Final Drives on GSRs
Im in the market for a final drive for my gsr w/ i/e. Im mainly in the looks at the JDM ITR one cuz it's in my price range. How many of you are running this final drive on your tranny and what kind of gains did you feel?
Have any of you raced a usdm type r on the track or anything and noticed your much closer than w/o? ALso how is highway driving w/ this?
If you guys know of any good prices or sites to get them at, or anyone selling some for CHEAP. let me know here. thanks

ATS is not practical at all if you daily drive. If you're all race it's okay tho.

I have the JDM FD installed along with the LSD on my GSR tranny. It's one of the best mods I've ever done to my car.
Yeah, it revs high when cruising on the freeway, but I still get about 28 mpg with it.
It just makes the car so much more fun to drive.

tranny mods are one of the best mods you can buy.
whether it be jdm itr final drive + lsd/fly wheel/performance cluth.....
remember whatever power the engine makes; it has to be converted through the tranny.
**putting in the jdm itr final drive will put the gsr gearing slightly above the usdm itr gearing.

How hard/long does it take to install the JDM ITR Final Drive on a GS-R? Any other required parts?
I'm definately gonna get me a JDM Final Drive sooner or later.

should take about a full sunday... ~8-10hrs [ depends how many brakes u take
]
once the tranny is out should take no more then a hour [taking your time] installing the FD
make sure u buy the full kit, some people sell the 4.78 diff. ring and 4.78 countershaft alone for about $300. the full kit should cost ~400-450
full kit includes:
-jdm 4.78 diff. ring
-jdm 4.78 countershaft
-jdm 1st gear
-(2) 1st gear needle bearing
-1st gear coular(sp?) ring
