aight, cool. I did notice on the test drive that there used to be a tach, and that the guy prolly drove it hard. Im not too worried because low miles and B16's are tough arnt they? Ill probably be rebuilding it anyway, once i get some skunk2 ish...

Take a close look at the kit on it. Can you remove it without having to re-paint? That would pretty much put a noway to that deal.

To be honest what with all you're planning to do to that Si if you were to buy it, I'd just keep the EX, do a manual swap, 99-00 conversion, etc. etc. It'd prolly work out cheaper that way.

the mileage is whats sellin me....i mean if i wanted to put a 5spd and b16 in my ex i think itd be more of a pain than its worth. My mileage is high, the si is low (38000 for a '99) and my car was previously in a near total accident....ever since then it creaks and cracks....so i want a new car. i think a stcok front bumper and a greddy lip on the front of that beast would be dope. It drove perfectly....so im not too worried about the motor or tranny at least for awhile...

arnt B series engines some of the best made engines? and cant they stand up to the rigors of hard revving and such...im just curious if the rumors ive heard are true. If you guys think this engine will fall apart some day soon from the previous owner driving it hard, then i probably wont get it.

thx

You can run a Honda motor hard...but how long it runs depends on the maintanance of the motor. Can they provide reciepts of maintenance?

IMO good deal if the motor/tranny was well maintained. I don't know what the blue-book value of a 98 Civic is but my friend traded in his 99Civic LX Coupe Automatic and he got 10200. Maybe he just got a good deal...
A 10000 trade in for you would mean barely paying anything out of your pocket.

yeah, the deal will take place tomarrow if at all. The blue book on my car to a private party is 8700. I am going to try to get at least 7 out of the dealer if not 7500...anyway, ive driven the car twice, going to have it compression checked tomarrow, and the carfax comes up clean....so im thinking im going to get it. It still drives excellent.

If the compression check comes up normal...wouldnt that indicate the motor is in good condition?

And one last question i need help answering is how to fix a squishy shifter feel. When i shift, the gears seem not tight and close, but kinda rubbery and not firm if anyone knows what im talkin about...

thanks you guys
