Turbo Edit....Ghettodyne
I just spent alot of money on a greddy e-manage system for my gsr turbo set-up I got the thing running mint and all....My question is what is turbo edit and or Ghettodyne that I hear somuch about people are saying it is a free way to tune your car I mean this e-manage is mint and would not give it up for anything besides a hondata but can someone fill me in so I have some common knowledge on this
It's not TOTALLY free.
Ghettodyne and Turboedit are EP Rom Programmers. Basically what you do is have a ZIF socket saudered into your ECU. (Anywhere between $35-$50).
Then you're going to need more EPRom chips (to insert into the socket that's going to run you around $5 a piece (some of them are rewriteable)
Of course burning the chips requried a EP Rom Burner/Programmer and that costs anywhere from $85-200. So as far as the cost, you're looking at $125-250 dollars about.
Now onto what GD/TE does. It is basically a program set up that allows you to change fuel mapping for the entire rev range of the car. Certain other features depend on the ECU (they are all set up for OBD-0 ecus) Include Live Update (have a serial port saudered in and then yo ucan hook up your lap top to dyno tune). Launch control (lowers the rev limit at speed of under 6 mph). Hot and cold mapping for VTEC. Allows you to adjust your rev limiter etc.
They are great programs and with some knowledge (which is easily attainable through knowledgeable people like Jason TurboEF9 and people on http://www.homemadeturbo.com forums) you can totally tune your car for way cheapness.

Oh and by the way I saw you listed hulkhb as a bad seller. I was going to buy a CRX from him once and he totally gave me bullshit information and I drove more than an hour out to see the piece of **** car. I definately agree, do not trust that guy.
Thanks so basiclly it is a DIY thing or are there people that I can send and extra ecu I have at the shop to and they will do it for me for a decent price..I read a very little about this somewere on here about a week ago and I was interested in giving it a try on my car to see how it is compared to the greddy e-manage system I am running now.........hulkhb deff talks mad **** man
It isnt. Ghettodyne is not currently being updated, but turboedit sort of took over from where ghettodyne left off. Think of them as a freeware version of hondata.
Im currently using a pm6 to run my turbo b16a setup. Soon to be GSR blocked setup.
