I know that there has been a lot of spark plug talk and I did a search and could not find exactly what I was looking for. I just recently bought a 2000 EX (D16Y8) its time to get a new set of spark plugs for her. What brand, and type is the best for the D168Y. What exactly do spark plugs do. How will better ones help out. Also what brand oil in your oppinion is the best. I have herd Castrol is the best. What do you guys think. Any help on these subjects would be greatly appreciated.
Stock spark plugs will do fine. Best oil is Mobil 1 synthetic but if you change it every 2-3k then mobil drive clean will do the job just fine.

In my opinion, amsoil is the best. I am running ATM 10w-30 Turbo Formulated and it actually makes my motor run cooler. It is about $5-7 a quart but in my opinion well worth it.

Amsoil is expensive and not worth it to me. If you are going to change your oil every 3k, don't spend all the extra money on the amsoil. I run Mobil 1 supersyn and it has worked just fine for like 25k. (like 10-12 of that boosted).
spark plugs, go with NGK's or Bosch platinum's
oil- mobil 1 is good stuff, and my personal favorite has always been castrol gtx, high mileage. but ill probably switch to mobil 1

spark plugs ignite ur the fuel on the 3rd stroke which is the combustion stroke. the more air/fuel u compress the stronger the spark. this knocks the piston down. u will only need thicker wires and better plugs if ur running a high hp engine which for a honda will probably be around 200 or so. stock ones should do for now.

That is why with amsoil, it suggest changing after 7k. The good thing about amsoil is that you can buy a test kit and send your oil in. They give you a readout of how your oil is doing, I have heard of some people going 25k on amsoil with no problems

Don't forget the oil filter! I use K&N. Also Fram XGard 2 is nice.
Mobil 1 Syntec for the oil. Ngk spark plug stock replacements. Do you have an owner's manual? It should list the part # for the spark plugs you'll need in it.

well for the oil filter i use oem and Mobil 1 synthetic oil in my z6,my brother uses amsoil oil in his b18c,but i don't think it worth it,stick with the Mobil 1 synthetic oil,oem filter and ngk v power spark plugs.
i used synth. blend old. and stock plugs, had NO problem.
After the boost: ima use 2 step colder ngks plugs and full synth. oil.
So for a stock motor you dont need anything special.

Plain old NGK plugs that you can get at Advanced Auto Parts is the best and if you haven't been running synthetic and have a lot of miles on your car and plan on changing your oil every 3k miles, then synthetic is not for you. Get you some Castrol, which is the best non synthetic oil out there.
i use quaker state 5w-30 or castrol 5w-30 >> both by civic and accord have 138000 and 107000 respectively....... i change the oil every 1500 miles so it remains clean (i am obsessive i know) i use the stock NGK plugs.... never ever had a problem *knock wood*
NGK spark plugs are fine. Mobil all the way. If you have alot of miles of your motor I dont not reccomend that you go synthetic. Regular oil should be fine as long as you change it when your supposed to.
