Since I'm not into the drag race scene, maybe someone could clarify for me...

Is that an engine on the FRONT of an NSX? And if it is, how can you even call it an NSX. It is a kit car with a NSX shell, nothing more.

Guess I never understood that. Might as well do the fast and furious thing and put a SR20DET into an S2000 or soemthing along those lines.

I hear ya, celica73... The only thing "Acura NSX" on that car is the stickers, and *maybe* the engine block before they started machining it. That is a fully tube-framed custom racecar with a carbon fiber shell that kinda, sorta, looks somewhat like the shape of an NSX, except taller and narrower.

Again... the marketing perception precedes and outweighs any sort of truth about what the car actually is. That is a "silhouette" car just like NASCAR, Trans-Am, SCCA GT classes, etc. How they can even call it an NSX is beyond me.

I'm not knocking it... sure, it is expensive and exotic and very very fast in a straight line for 9 seconds at a time. That is all good in its own way. But it has absolutely NOTHING in common with the street car, which IMHO makes it a lie.

{Edit: looked at pics, realized it was indeed front-engine, laughed, and removed comment about stock engine orientation.}

Uh oh, you said NASCAR... please don't get me started.

North American Stock Car Automobile Racing.

Yeah, I have one of those "stock" RWD V-8 powered Ford Tauruses in my garage.

Geez carburetors still... Yeah, the last carbed passenger car sold in the US was something like the Subaru Justy back in the early 90's.

Stock my ***.

I better stop now, my head is starting to hurt.

Since drag racing has a great deal to do with the motor, and the car runs an NSX motor, I think the name has some legitimacy. Especially when you consider that every other car built in that style has a comparatively ubiquitous V8.

Scott, you must admit though... wouldn't it be kinda cool to say that your family sedan has a 358 cubic inch engine with 750hp?

I'd probably own a last gen Impala SS if I could convince my wife that it was cool.

But, yes, if I could buy a RWD 750hp V8 4 door car I would think aobut it.

Right now, the only car that could even come close to a "Stock Car" would seem to be the BMW M5 mmmmm. M5...
