Things you SHOULD replace when car is COMPLETELY stripped...
Im building an ITR from a GS-R and the modifications on the car include:
- ITR Engine
- ITR Interior
- ITR Lip/Spoiler
- ITR Black Recaros
- ITR SRS Steering Wheel
- USDM ITR Wheels
- Fidanza Flywheel
- ATS 4.92 Final Drive
- Carbing 3pt. Front/Rear Strut bars,
- Carbing Tie bars
- Carbing Subframe bars
- Carbing Lower arm bars
- Carbing Crossbar
- Carbing Radiator Cooling Plate
Carbing... yummy
My question is what things should I replace now that I have the car COMPLETELY stripped? Any suggestions? Only one so far is motor mounts.
Alberto.

Somebody suggested that I should replace my motor mounts while my engine is out.

How bout keep it a GSR since the ITR is a joke.
Replace to mounts fo sheezy. Still is good...will give the car a nice jarr
Also, LCAs would be nice, along with a suitable susepnsion to go with them.

If you are trying to "replace" something so that you have a Type R, don't bother, the frames are different. If you are "replacing" because you want to be as close to an ITR as possible, remove the sound deadening material as long as the car is stripped. Ditto for the cruise control.
why build a "type-r" when it's never going to be one.
build something better.......
to answer your question, seam-weld it and reinforce the chasis wherever you can. take out all the weight you can, and then build it with the parts you want (and your lists looks pretty damn good!)

My point is not to get to be an ITR, but to get the max performance out of the chassis that im building.
Can somebody get my point? What im referring to is like replacing the clutch while transmission is open so you dont have to open it again. What parts should I replace now that the car is completely stripped?

if you're going to use a non-itr tranny, a limited slip would be a good investment.

Everything but the frame is going to be ITR.
About the cage, I can get a Carbing cage but I need the rear seats

Since you did mention the word performance, don't overlook the suspension. IMO that's more important than reinforcing the body. I take it you're going 4 to 5 lug.
You could weld the sunroof to shave a little weight from the top end but that may be taking things a little too far.

why are you going through so much trouble to build up a car that you're going to keep the backseat in? seems odd to me..
be sure to check all bushings, ball joints, etc.. basically anything rubber or plastic, to see if it needs replacing..
