Auto Auctions and Type R's
Does anyone know what Type R's generally go for at auto auction? I know it varies with vehicle condition.
The car I am looking at is a NBP 2001. It was a theft car and is missing most of the interior including the gauge cluster. It is also missing the spoiler and the rims. There is no key so they don't know if the engine starts. A lot off the paint seems to be off the valve cover, so it very well might not. It has steelies on it now, but I can't tell from the pictures if they are four lug or five lug and they won't go look to tell me. My concern is the five lug suspension may have been taken out. Regardless, does anyone have experience with auctions and if so what have you seen a vehicle in this condition go for. I just want an idea before I register to do it. Thanks.

Sorry vtecjunkie but your purchase was the one who was sad.
7K-9K is what you pay on the streets from somebody who bought in at auction. At an auction, no more than $4000.

mine wasn't some hacked up one like the white R. Mine came with everything, not 4 lug or anything like that. I agree it was pricey and I did buy it from an auction. Copart.com Maybe you've heard of it. Have to be a dealer to buy from them.
I don't know how many R's you see at local auctions in Florida and no else realizes what's up for bids, but here in **** *** Nebraska you ain't finding nothing unless you search the web where everyone knows about them. This is way I paid 9K for it.

Thanks, dudes.
It's in Cali on an auction site. Fortunately, Cali is one of the few states that allows the public to bid at these, not just dealers. It's just monster complicated to register and bid online and ship it, so I wanted to make sure I could afford it before I got my feet wet. But if you guys don't think it will go for mroe than 4 large, that sounds like a sweet deal.

That copart site is interesting... I have been debating on trying to get my dealer license, and I may consider applying here. They have a high level of criteria to meet, but if possible it would be a great way to start up a business.
