Default Steering Wheel shakes when I brake??

I just got the Accord about a month ago its a 96 ex with cross drilled rotors in the front and stock in the rears. It has 45000 miles on it and when I hit the brakes the wheel starts to shake. Its not really bad but its annoying... Just wondering what it could be...The car was my dads and he changed the brake at 40000 miles.. Can the the rotors be warped already? Any help would be great thanks....

Warped rotors= get them turned or buy new ones

or

Balance tires= go to nearest tire shop have them spin balance

or

Might just need new brake pads= DIY

This is kind of a common problem for the Accord, I have a 96 and it does the same thing. It is usually caused by a warped rotor. If the rotor and the pad dont have a chance to properly mate up together then you will notice a problem.

So should I wait till summer and have my tires balanced and aligned when I put my 17's on? then if that doesnt help then change the rotors? The brakes only have 5000 miles on them so they should still be good right? there stillen brake pads I think

IF you are running winter tires its most likely that they are out of balance..you might wanna just wait and make sure it doesnt any worse..

Oh so its a 96 with only 45000 miles and the original tires? In that case the tires are eight years old. I wouldnt trust those tires at all, I would change them right away. The original tires are most likely the problem.

Generally vibration in the steering wheel is caused by improper wheel balance and improper inflation. I think a simple rotation and balance should cure it....if not then its a matter of your brake balance system, bleed the brakes and possible change out the pads. This is least costly before replacing the rotors.

Most likely it is a warped rotor. My friends 96 accord was like that also. Out of balance tires wouldnt wobble when braking...only when driving at high speeds.

its a combination of things. get some new rotors or resurface, make sure your calipers are good, master cylinder is good, and this is a perfect time to get some new brake fluid too!!!

from experience, i had my rotors resurfaced from midas, after having the vibrations and they came back. now i replaced them with Brembo Blanks, rebuild calipers and some Hawk HPS pads and after 1 year, no vibrations!!!

Yea im gonna call today and find out how much pep boys does it for and also check around and get them resurfaced. The brake fluid was changed along the pads and rotars at 40000 miles so I think the fluid should be good still.
