Default Shot peening OEM oil pump gear alternative to Toda?

I know people like the added security and in rare cases the stock oil pump gear has been known to fail. Instead of spending the outrageous amount on the Toda gear, wouldn't it be possible to just have the OEM gear shot peened? I'm sure it wouldn't cost much and a little extra security wouldn't hurt. Any input?

I would do cryo treatment. Shot peening leaves a texture on the surface wich probably would not be too good.

I know there isint really a cheap upgrade for this but have you considerd prodrive or the spoon oilpump?

shot peening most likely will break the oem oil pump gears.powedered metal is very fragile.plus,if it was shot peened, then youd have to spend the extra money to have it resurfaced and trued up to spec.
