1. Timing Light

2. Check for frays, cracking, and leading edge tooth wear

3. As per service manual less a new install or excessive chatter from the valvetrain.

 

1. Cam timing: If your cam gear and block are not at TDC. Igntion timing: Buy a timing light and adjust the distributor until timing is set at stock.

2. Check it for what? If its there?

3. If you can hear your valves slapping horribly then you need a valve adjustment.
