Default help with bike decision

i'm in the market for a used bike with a budget of about 2 grand
so far i've found a '94 honda f2 for $1700 and an '88 kawi ninja 600r for only $800. neither of the ads give much more details
basically, i want your guys' opinion on which you'd recommend given that both bikes are in good condition with decent mileage, am i better off starting on the older kawi or should i just pay a bit more for a somewhat newer bike like the honda? or do you guys think i shouldn't even bother looking at older bikes (late 80's)?
thanks in advance

I dont have experience with the 600r but my kawi ex500 takes a bunch of abuse and still runs. I actually looped it yesterday at like 5-10mph and the only thing that broke slightly was the stator cover.

But the f2 is a great bike too. You cant go wrong with the cbr's. I would go with the cbr.

I did the same thing on my VF500. On a stand still i revved it up and dropped the clutch i was holding it up with my feet, haa.

Anyway pick up the F2, great frickin bike. But at that price its gotta have high mileage or something. Check it out first.

Yea. I was bored yesterday so i decided to practice my slow/stand up wheelies with my ex500. I went going around 5mph and just revved/let out clutch. Came up really quick and i ended up jumping off it and seeing it 12 then fall over. It came up easily cause i had my left foot on the back peg and right foot on the brake. The hardest part was cleaning up all that oil in the street.

I'd go with the F2 as well. They're very durable if taken care of.

Just be patient. Good deals are hard to come by. Especially on F2s or F3s, since a lot of people still love that bike.
