20" vs 22" slicks
Would 20" slicks hurt the top end vs 22" slicks?
Last night I ran a 14.0 @ 99 MPH on 24" street tires (195/65-14) with a 2.20 60'.
I threw some 20" slicks on and busted a 1.90 60'...but only ran a 13.73 @ 98 MPH?!
Should the time have been much better considering the fact that my 60' was .3 better? Im thinking maybe the 20" slicks are hurting the top and...and maybe I need some 22" slicks?

Yes...but I didnt gain as much as I think I should have with the slicks.
Ive heard the rule of thumb is...
Ever .1 off the 60' is .2 of the 1/4 mile time.
If my 60' was 1.90 vs 2.20...then my 1/4 mile time should have been around 13.4 vs 14.0...correct?
So Im asking...is it possible that the 20" slicks are hurting both the trap speed and the 1/4 mile time itself?

rotations mass is what kills you. Back in the day of wire rims I learned this. I had 13" roadsters with the lil ity bity perelli tires. The rotaional mass caused my car to rev faster on the highway. Only thing was when i was going 55MPH <<<thats the speed limit in hawaii,<<< everyone else doing the same mile PER hour was passing me like they were doing 70. So in relation to what your asking. Go bigger on the slicks. 22" slicks would prove worthy for top end speed and give your car a sense of regular rotaional mass. Hope this philosophical bull i just gave you made sense.... Anyways, if you want bigger I have 25" slicks with 13" PRO 4 bogarts for sale. IF thats big enough. Right now they are just sitting in my room.
Now I am asking only 375.00.
good luck

He man, what's your set-up? What kind of piggybacks are you running or what. . . .because that sounds like a set-up I'm trying to pull off. E-mail me at nd_4_spd55@hotmail.com Do you have any pic's?
Thanks

yes this is true but then factor in the size of the slick i used to run 14x6x20 slicks on my car and then i swtiched to 205-50 15 drag radials and my mph went up by 3.6 mph

With the enhanced traction you'll get less mph or top end and better et.
With less traction you car's tires will spin more giving ya more top end.
Anytime you on street tires you'll get better mph.
I think you should stay with the 20" rims until your car overpowers those slicks then go with the 22's
The 22 x 8 x13 slicks are prettty big and I don't think you make enough power. They really hook good but your mph will really suffer. That's just my opinion.
