2003 Silverado W/Bose help.
Hey guys a friend and I are trying to install a Cd deck on is silverado. Ive been told by several people that we need to get a adapter @150.00. Is there a cheaper way to get this adapter? or way around it. Also what does it do?
I agree with getting rid of them. If your going to do it, do it right the first time. Get some new speakers and run new speaker wire. This will assure you obtain the best quality and no problems.
From what ive heard you need the harness to reain certin features, such as the on star carp. and the seat memory, and how the stereo stays on after y ou open the door ect.
A few thought?
Does the truck have On Star? If so does he want to retain its usage.
Is the stock radio a class 2 data bus system? Are you willing to deal with
his constant whinging if you remove radio from car and the system starts throwing
codes left and right?
if you are up for the challenge...drop the glove box..the amp sits right there.
Happy installing

you can either use the adaptor or start from scratch, meaning new radio speakers and running wires. if you dont use the expensive harness you do loose your door chimes and also affects other things in the vehicle. before the harness was available, you used to have to relocate the factory radio under a seat or in the trunck. the expensive harness lets you retain the door chimes and also sends an "all good" code back to the computer. you can thank GM for this. goodluck with the install!
