radius rod bushings.. any1 replaced them??
ive been messing with my front susp and front brakes .. replacing new parts, upgrading etc ... and i notice my radius rods .. i was wondering if replacing the bushings will be a good idea/improvement?? any1 done this before?? there isnt any play from side to side at the LCA. though there is some squeakin comin from them when i move the LCAs up and down ... i was just wondering if replacin them would be worth it ..

all the ones i've ever seen looked brand new, the bushings anyways. i dont think they really wear out. but some pu bushings could always make it feel a lot better when u brake hard and what not. they are easy to change. losen the front bolt first, take the back 2 off the lca
i switched to ES poly bushings, didnt notice a difference at all. the rubber i replaced were fine, and were tightened stock so tight, there wasnt much room for it to move anyway.
so i take it not worth it ... i called diff auto parts stores and they have them for 20 bux both sides ... just reg replacement 1s .. i was thinkin on geting them anyways but now im not sure

if you really wana solve wheel hop, get a jimfab X-member
but i don't see a problem with changing those bushings.. it could only improve things... and if you also have the time, why not?

Although I don't know where you can get them and/or if they're for street cars look into bearings metal ones.
I'll figure it out one day.

I will be replacing mine with a set of OPM radius rod bushings. I'll let you know if there's a significant difference, but most people rave about them.

I just replaced mine this week when I did an Integra brake upgrade (as well as the rest of the ES kit) My Rod bushings were gone. Unfortunately i can't tell you if it was better, because I never drove this car, but based on the visual alone, I would say it was deffinitly an improvement.
Even if there is no side to side play, If they dont look so good, I would change them. The radious rods triangulate the suspension, and you won't be able to replicate the load of the car under weight bearing situations just by pushing and pulling on it. If they are sloppy, your whole geometry varies while driving.
For the little money and effort involved, I'd say do it.

I second that, these cars are old the rubber degrades, I have full ES uerothane bushing kit I am in middle of installing. Thetrailing arm bushings are far easier to replace than reinstalling the radiator fans in these cars. I don't car what anyone says, I did both sides in 1/2 the time as it took me to get fans reinstalled. Without a press, With just a propane torch, screwdriver hammer , wire brush and flap abrasive wheel, and a Bench vise.

I use the ES's on mine and it made a huge diff(but my car did have 400 000km)
The difference for me is felt under braking as the Rad rod basically fixes the control arm/knuckle to the body. If the bushing is bad when you go to brake the wheel stops but the body of the car keeps moving forward untill the bushing bottoms out, this can be felt if you know the diff if not you might think its normal.
On my next car I'll replace it with the OMP bearing.
Its a really IMPORTANT bushing...replace it!

Oh if you are running a front swaybar you might not feel the bad bushing as well because the swaybar is limiting the front-back movement of the control arm(just judging by your diagram).
i think there is a sleeve on the radius rod you can remove to tighten it down more on the bushing.
old Toyota camry's use the swaybar as a stressed member. A friend of mine showed me his car, it has bad sway bar bushings and the wheel rocks 2" forward and backward w/ the car on the ground

Those bushings help with wheel hop when launching and help braking. I put washers there as my first experiment and it didn't go too well. They acted as a jim fab x-member with absolutely no wheel hop and good braking. But then a month later my radius rod snapped from not being able to move around
. So i bought the ES bushings for 15 bucks and they work great
. But i'm going to get the jim fab x-member soon.

dam i wish i would have known about the energy suspension ones for $11 bucks...i went and ordered mugen ones and i feel gipped...
i thought it would include the hardware as well (washers, nuts, sleeves) like honda has for $38 bucks...but for $50 you just get the 4 bushings...
