Headgasket?

Headgasket?
I took off my valvecover today and there is light brown sludge all over the inside of it. It looks like light brown grease. My compression was fine - all within 10% variance. My car is not blowing any white smoke and the oil on the dipstick was fine. What could it be?

oil was changed 1000 km's ago - i use motul 8100
there was a lot of this grease stuff - covered the whole inside of valvecover
