Intake system = More gas usage?

Default Intake system = More gas usage?

If I intall an intake system on my 98 Accord V6 coupe, will the car use more gas?

yes and no...if you continue to drive like you drove before the intake you may get better mpg, but since most like to here the sound of the intake and take advantage of the added power you will driver harder and faster thus lower your mpg.

Ive always gotten worse mileage but I think that is because I do drive harder to hear the sound LoL

KGAccord is correct you will burn more gas because you will be using it a lot more to hear the intake but the extra air alone will not necisarily give you worse gass mileage either. I say it that way because more air taken in means more fuel needed.

Doesn't everybody know. You put an intake on your car it automatically makes it a race car!! Thus it will use more gas because you have to drive it like one.

actually in my car the more normal i drive the less mileage I get, the harder I gas it the better the mileage.

Haha I do that too cept for in my last accord I lost 9 mpg with the mugen ecu and CAI

Bingo. An intake alone won't do make that much of a difference. Hell, even a header won't. If you drive normally and don't drive like a maniac, you'll continue to get good gas mileage.
