ok i want to sell my 1990 dx and buy an 89 si. the only thing i am worried about is the mileage on the 89 si. it has 200k miles on it and my car only has 110k. I eventually would like to swap a b16 into it if i get it but wont have the money do that for a while with school and all. i asked tihs before and didnt get too much of an answer lol but does a crx with 200k miles and up still have a lot of life left in it without a swap? i mean is the car ready to die? is it worth buying a car with such high mileage?
I drove a 91 Si with 200k miles on the car, and it had a b16 too. It drove ****** nice. Some of the suspension and interior may be worn out, but with a swap you should be fine, and itll proly be ok till the swap anyway.

As with any car; the CRX isn't some timebomb waiting to hit 200k

My CRX was at its peak at around 200k. I'm nearly at 300k now, and it still hits a decent time and dyno results also shown very close to ealrier performance specs.
Then again, I had my car/motor since new, so I took care of it like a baby.

True..
Then again...cars are engineered with lifetime involved....I wouldn't be surprised if it was less then 200k.

well I have a 91 4 door that runs good, but leaks basically everything, which means you know abuse, and lack of maintenance right now it's at 148k, and I have an 89 hatch with 145K which runs wayyyyy better that I have owned since 110k miles and I always took care of it. And then I have a 93 del sol Si which is running like new. And my newest toy 91 CRX si with 260K miles which runs like new! It was a one owner car! hehehe
Why not keep your newer, significantly less mileage DX and get a B16 swap when you can afford it? Is the 89 Si in better condition than your 90 DX?
it mainly depends on the meintenence, do a compression check, easy and check for smoke, but if the motor has been taken care of it can easily run for many more years, it will have lost its "kick" thats only natural a 200k miled car isnt gonna perform like new.
As everyone has mentioned, mileage doesn't matter. What matters is how the car was maintained and treated in the past.
I bought my '91 CRX Si with 231,000 miles already on the odometer.
