Default NOT boosting up to wastegate's spring, any ideas?

hey guys, im just trying to figure out why im not getting my full 7.5 wastegate's spring's psi. i guess i should be happy that its not creeping! Im only getting about 6 to 6.5psi in all gears exept 5th, im getting about 5.5. all charge piping is hooked and doesn't look like any leaks. i haven't had it tuned yet so could the fact that its running pig rich be a problem? ...or that im running a cat and a 2.3" exhaust? 3" this weekend (wahoo...mainly for test pipe)

i know i could probobly get an EBC and get it to exactly what i want but i see no point in spending a few hundred dollars on something that should be working in the first place, and for only a few psi. my ic size is 20x8x3 if that helps. im running 2.5" from tb to ic and 2.25 from ic to turbo. any suggestions?

and yes i know that last bend sucks (erg i guess first bend off turbo) im waiting on a new flange to mate to the turbo, anyone know where ican find one i can weld to?

Doesn't the intercooler cause some loss in boost pressure?

Maybe a catalytic converter or something? I had about a 1lb. Pressure loss due to my cat, switched in a test pipe and found some boost...

Why jump right to an EBC? Why not just get a $75 MBC like my TurboXS? I love it and it was literally a 3 min install! Wait till you get your 3" and see if that changes it for the better. I remember when I was getting boost creep someone said that the 3" exhuast allows the turbo to spool faster and that might have been causing the creep. So maybe when you go to the 3" it will boost right to 7.5psi?

bump for you!

I've got the same problem. My turbonetics wastegate is suppose to be adjustable from 6-9lbs.... The spring that is......and for some reason even at its highest setting it won't boost over 6 lbs.

At the track however, when I was running open downpipe it creeped up and held steady at 7 psi. I don't know if its the crappy wastegate, or exhaust leak, or unfunctional spring. I'm going to buy the 9-12psi spring pretty soon to see if that will change the problem. If that doesn't work....probably a new wastegate. Down the line when I'm outta school new turbo and new ebc/mbc depending on the price. Until then poor mans boost controller.

A good friend of mine is in a big 240sx group out here in Arizona. He built a pressure tester with some pvc pipe and coupling found at any hardware store and used a old boost gauge he had. When hook up to the first pipe after to the turbo, he pressurizes the pipes to find leaks. You would be amazed at what has been found. Turned out his problem was a cracked ic core. Just an idea
