Default How much psi u running on DRAG t3/t4 kit?

Hey I got the FMIC DRAG kit with like .63 on the exhuast housing, was wondering how many psi you guys are running on this turbo. I was gonna run 15psi ish and was wondering if the turbo could run that efficiently?

Also how big is the IC piping you use? Mine looks madd small, although the pipe with the BOV on it looks like its the right size (2.5-3" ID).

Whaddya think? Max psi on this turbo? What shoudl the diameter of the IC pipes be? Mine looks like 2" or less, should i get some bigger tubes? I eventually plan on upping to a new turbo, but since i have never driven turbo i was gonna learn on this little one... still wanted to run 15psi ish on it and know what my ceiling would be, ppl were telling me 20psi on this is a no-go..?

Input appreciated (IC pipe size, max psi)

the piping from turbo to intercooler is 2.25 and the piping from ic is 2.5"

i wouldnt run 15psi on a stock motor with the supplied FMU (FMU;s suck **** if you didnt know)

just keep it at the wg spring, maybe 10 psi... but get it tuned with something like hondata, uberdata, neptune, aem, apexi fc, etc

good question, I looked at their compressor maps on turbonetics.com....and if I am looking at the correct map, it seems to be efficient between 20-28psi I am at 15 right now, but will be taking it to 28. If it blows the turbo, oh well just gives me reason to by a better one haha. Call up turbonetics to double check.

yerah i have a built motor and a ems (uberdata)...

so Dunc.. you say you run 15 fine right now, and it indeed can take 20+?

Thanks, i am also getting a cutom 3" dp and full exhuast...

I've been running 15psi for about 15,000 miles now (daily driver, 9 hour trips to Alabama, etc.) nothing at all wrong with the engine or turbo. As for if it can take 20+psi, I would see why not after looking at the compressor map on turbonetics.com However, I would call them with your turbo specs just to hear it from the makers. I plan on calling them also when I get to that point.

Well I just got off the phone with turbonetics, the guy basically acted as though I was some stupid *** kid wasting his time....

I asked him if the t3/t4 .57 could take things when revving to 9000rpm's (answer: "too many variables") I hate that answer because I know there are variables but you can take a ******* educated guess.

Me - What kind of boost levels are they efficient at, like how many pounds of boost can you typically run on this turbo?
Him - "the .57's are very happy between 12-20psi"
Me - Can they go higher than that, say like 28psi?
Him - Yea you can go higher than that. It might not be as efficient, instead of being say 74-76% efficient it may drop to being like 70% efficient.

excellent info thanks for the hard work. This is good news cause in the EG+ forum guys were tellin me i was crazy to run even near 20psi on this turbo

haha, thats what I like to call scared pussies You'll never make big power if you are too scared to try things ya know? Plus I don't really think 20psi is that much at all to be honest. I say run 20, and post up your dyno!

There have been threads of people shattering the blades running over 22 psi on the Turbonetics turbo from the drag kit. I would say 20psi is about the safe limit on the turbo, and like was said it really comes alive between 15-20 psi.

im running a 57 trim and an old drag frontmount (though not part of a drag kit). the pipin into the i/c is 2inch and its 2.25 out. right now im on 7psi and no major problems, considering my motor has 205k miles

i think that the intercooler would run out of efficiency somewhere around 350whp, just from a rough estimate of the core size

I guess we'll just wait and see if my blades shatter or not haha. Oh well if they do I agree with the coming alive part. There is a huuuge difference between 15 and 20psi on this turbo...I was hitting 20 for two pulls and it was a rediculous night and day change over 15psi.
