Default Resurfacing turbo manifold?

I cannot get my manifold to seat properly to the head. I was wondering if the best way to cure this would be to resurface it? My flange is cut like this and there is no way the tiny manifold studs will straighten it out.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so how was it solved?

You talking about the expansion slots?

Yeah kinda, after it was cut it moved a bit and the flange is no longer flat.

usually you can just put it on. You'd be surprised what those studs will straighten out. When it gets hot it'll usually seal better and then you can retighten. I've had a couple like that and no problems. The slots let it move, so when you tighten it down it'll usually straighten out.

you should be able to put it on, get em hot, then be able to tighten some more.

If you want it to last a while I would have it planed or at least go at it with a hand belt sander to get it close. I have a stainless manifold that was warped like that so I cut expansion slots in it (like yours) and sanded it flat. Seals great and no longer cracks. I had to take out about 2.5mm in some spots. that was pretty extreme but as long as it's close to flat the studs will pull it in a little. I just don't want my runners under tension so I did it this way.

looks like if you just took down runner 1 and 4 it would be close.

heat it up, put on the head, and tighten that suka down.
then retighten after you run it for awhile.

I had a similar problem with my manfiold, it will straighten out because its basically 4 little flanges that move. but I had mine resurfaced. it cost me alot because nobody could figure out how to mount it properly.

Thanks guys...well i have mounted it but it is nowhere close. I mean more exhaust comes out between the flange than the DP...lol...I guess I have to tear her apart and machine it.

Are you guys using the stock bolts? Mine keep f*ckin stripping cause I have to use the open end of the wrench. I wish I would have went with a freaking log! This is getting rediculous.

i tried to use the stock bolts, but no go on this manifold. i went to Honda and got all studs and just put the nuts on . it was still a big PITA, youll find out there is an order to tightening them or it wont go on well . i still cant get one in the hole above the dipstick tube . oh well .

ya, you have to use studs. I REALLLY need an FAQ on my site, along with bolt sizes...
Get the manifold on as best you can, start the car up, get it hot. WITHOUT BURNING YOURSELF, crank the nuts down as tight as possible w/out breaking anything(or rounding off the nuts). And this should do it. If you take the manifold back off, it will retain the shape that it was in under tension.

I guess I was unclear with my wording. I am using the factory studs and bolts. I got it back on so we will see. If it doesnt seal this time I guess I will have it resurfaced.

The pictured manifold is a Full-Race but my manifold is a Lovefab.
