I'll be doing the Alfa day Sunday the 28th. If you still feel like driving after TC school Saturday - and you should - come on out (show up around 7).

If you've got a set of Dirt Stockers you won't care if it's raining - just plan on doing alot of tire changes if it's not steadily raining all day.

Scott, who ran his Dirt Stockers at about 34 cold all around the one time he's used them so far.....

Scott, what are "dirt stockers"? Besides tires.

Dirt Stockers are made by Hoosier. They are a popular club racer rain tire. They are very soft and die in a couple of dry laps, but in steady wet conditions they are fantastic. They are as far beyond a good all weather street tire in the wet as a DOT racing tire is beyond a good street tire in the dry - maybe even more so. You shouldn't bring a set of Dirt Stockers to the track without having something else available to use if the track dries out - for me that's a set of Yokohama A032's which make a good intermediate and work pretty good as floods too if you want one wet season all purpose tire.

Hoosier has a new rain tire that is supposed to be even better. A little digging will turn up that it's available in 205/50-15.

Scott, who hasn't driven in the rain all year....and is ready to....

i might just have to show up on sunday too then.. is it just a normal open-track type day and how much does it cost to register at the door?

also whats the lifetime of the dirt-stockers in the wet? i assume wet tires last virtually forever as long as the rain keeps comming down?

It's just a plain old club lapping day. I think it's $85 - Alfa club is the cheapest around here.

I really don't know how long Dirt Stockers last - but I've seen so many old cracked Goodyear Dogbones over the years that it appears virtually impossible to actually wear out a set of rains. I keep mine in the dark at a year round 40-70 degrees to minimize age hardening - probably the dominant factor in rain tire life.

Scott, who will take either wet or dry on the 28th......I just want to drive some more....

I don't have any contact info - though I know some of the people. Non-Alfa's can't preregister though. But there are at best a dozen Alfa's and they can handle about 90 cars. If you show up between 7 & 8 it's hard to imagine not getting in - notwithstanding the requirement to pass tech and have an SA90 up helmet.

Scott, who used to be into Alfa's in another life......

Yeah that's the great thing about the Alfa days, there are usually only about 10 at them and then it's wide open.

I actually joined the NWARC just to get advance notice of their track days and to save $25 per lapping day.

I'm thinking of going, maybe 50/50 at this point. Will be in the Cobra if I go.
