Need advice on street car suspension
This will be the setup on my hb:
GC coilovers - 350f/250r
Front shocks - 89 Accord Tokico Illuminas (new)
Rear shocks - 90 civic/crx Tokico Illuminas (used)
MAYBE the GC upper mount "top hats"
Why Accord shocks? Basically because of these two threads:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=399992
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=469161
The shocks in the rear are used for six months, and i'm not the original owner, so the warranty is off. As for the front, they're new and with warranty.
Since i plan to lower the car ~3 inches, a normal crx/civic shock would see a 3 inch drop. But, with the top hats in the front, that reduces it to about 2.25 drop. And from those threads, they measured the accord shocks to be about 3/4th of an inch shorter than crx/civic shocks. That means 2.25-0.75 = 1.5 inch drop, which is seen by the FRONT shocks. The rear shocks are still civic/crx, so they're seeing a 2.25 in drop. 1.5 should be covered under warranty, but to keep it on the safe side i'd probably ride at 2.75 inches instead of 3.
But, my question is whether or not i should bother getting top hats for the rear of the car? This car will be a daily driver and i don't ever remember bottoming out on my previous ride which also sat without any fender gap. And the warranty is already off, so there's no point in protecting that aspect. What do you think?
CLIFF NOTES - On a daily driven car that doesn't seem to bottom out much, would it be worth it to get top hats in the rear with shocks that aren't under warranty?

i thought the deal with accord front shocks was that you could only get bilsteins for aftermarket replacements, not avialable for tokico. well if you have em, thats cool.
the GC mount will give you an extra 3/4" of shock travel. i dont know how low 3" means, but if youre past no fender gap, youre probably going to just run out of actual suspension travel at the top of the A arm, so the GC mount wont help anyway. since you already shortened the shock rod using the accord spec shocks (did you verify tokico made em shorter?), then i would think you really wouldnt need to get the GC mount then. certainly wouldnt hurt, but may not help at all for you.

Well the car would be sitting at or right above the fender. At that height on my old crx, the upper control arms NEVER hit the body. I think i am safe to say that i drive like a granny.
Thanks for the input though Tyson, helped me out much so far
Does anyone else think the top hats in the rear would be useless?

I have bilstiens in front...
and if you drive like a granny why do you want to upgrade your suspension?

Well, this granny still wants a nice ride while being lowered 3 inches. But, when i say granny, i mean that i drive slow through dips, bumps, etc (things that would cause me to bottom out). On normal roads, i'll have fun with the car through turns and straightaways just like the rest of you guys.
oh, we're just talking about the rear?
oh, no, dont think theyre worth it much in the rear. check and see how much travel you got. 3/4-1 travel in the rear is enough. if not, get the GC hats for the rear.

I got a set of Koni Yellow Sp3/4's all around. I like adjustability. Great for some autox fun and decent ride around town. Unlike my old tokico blues, which are crap.
