Default Offset and wheel bearing life...

I am looking into getting some wide wheels for autoX/roadracing and can get a good deal on some 0 offset. If I am willing to roll/cut/remake my fenders is there going to be any other issues, such as putting weird leverage on the wheel bearings or other suspension member? The advantage to this is 1) price 2) wider track (a little over 2.5", I believe; +33offset->0offset).

I ask because it seems that some ghetto-G cars that have the skinny wheels with HIGH negative offset (so they stick out of the wheel wells) would have problems with hubs/bearings, etc. Would it be a similar case with a 7 or 8" wheel with 0 offset?
