A few start up questions
I am a new owner of a '01 Civic Ex. I am not looking to set new land speed records, just minor modifications. I was wondering what is the best intake I can buy w/o breaking my bank account? With regards to that, I was told that it is possible to suck up water with certain intakes. If the intake sucks up water and ruins my engine the warranty won't cover it. Do certain intakes hang lower than others? I was also looking into buying a chip to increase hp. Does anyone recommend a certain type or brand?

A cold-air intake's filter will be lower than the short ram intake. AEM is a good brand to look for. If you are getting the CAI, then it might be a good idea to get the bypass valve if you are worried about hydrolocking the engine.

You will need a lot more modifications than an intake and chip.

They do not make chips for your engine. Your ECU and Engine are OBDIIb (smog regulations).
They only make chips for 95 and older vehicles or, vehicles that have been converted to run OBDI (92-95) ECUs.
I suggest getting a AEM short ram intake, and an Exhaust then working on your suspension.
