Default No O2 Sensor. Possibly Faster???

Long story short, the o2 sensor I got didn't have clip so i cut the clip off of the old one and put it on the newer one. but it didn't fit in my header. neway i ended up needing to go somewhere so i just screwed my old (not working) one in. i didn't even clip it in. it feels to me that once the CEL comes on i get alittle boost at higher RPM.
could it be faster?

if nebody feels like unplugging theirs to try it. get back to me with info. but you won't notice the difference untill the engine warms up and the CEL comes on.

Yeah, its probably cause your running richer, mine feels teh same, way, it just tells me i need to get to a dyno so i can tune this puppy, cams need more feul. Except i only run without a cel for about 1 minute, then it comes on, my cars starts running reaaaaaal lean at cruise speeds, and runs rich when wot. Weird, oh, code 43, obd1. I dunno, cant seem to fix it.

Most likely not. Because tripping the cel usually makes the compter go into limp mode which is way too rich and then wont put any advance in the timing.

WARNING: THE *** DYNO IS NOT ACCURATE!!!
You could really **** up some plugs and your catalytic converter. I wouldn't run too long like that if I were you.

shouldn't make a big difference. ecu not getting a signal it should take reading fron your ect so you shouldn't be way rich or way lean.

back in the days i was getting a cel for the tps sensor low voltage and it would cause the car to run rich and at the track i got like 2 tenths of a sec from it =P so its possible...

i was running a d15b2 w/ PG7, A6 Manifold. My car actually ran slower when the CEL for the o2 sensor turned on, and it was very noticable. but it might be different on everyone's setup.

Like was said open loop will run a safe mode with a really rich mix and most likely couldnt be running faster because the open loop will drop everything back to base timing and not advance any from there

Yeah, well my car runs EXTREMELY lean when the cel comes on, code 43, but when i give it 50% throttle or more, according the the vafc2, it jump sup to my maps, but i dunno, code 43, feul system supply, but gettig a new crx soon, dont care anymore, 38mpg doesnt sound to shabby, obd1 minime, with a cam and some head work, beating it too, i l,ove my cel. As for detonation, i dunno, cant hear any, aand ive been ridin glike this for a few months now, gettig a fresh block this weekend though, so, um, whatever, hehe.

open loop has nothing to do with timing in the sense it is being used here. open loop is used to describe the feedback type used. you can have open/closed loop o2 feedback as well as open/closed loop timing feedback via a knock sensing device etc... Open loop means that the ecu is NOT using the engines sensors to make decisions about how operate the engine, it is using preset tables and parameters in the ecu and just outputting them. Closed loop uses sensors to analyze incoming data and make "educated" decisions about how/what to change to make the engine run differently than "normal," where normal is the preset tables and parameters set in the ecu. anyway when you are in the throttle hard you are running in open loop. the ecu switches from closed to open loop at a preset throttle position or load or a combination of both.

READ: Always in open loop under full throttle.

this is not necessarily true.
