Looking for ideas on shedding weight off my car
I have a 91 Si hatch and i am wanting to get rid of dead weight......
So far i've came up with these ideas......
Remove all glass windows (instead of door windows) Replacing w/lexan
Remove power sunroof assembly
Remove everything from the front seats back (carpet, seats, panels ect..ect...)
Removing front and rear bumper supports
Is there a manufactor that makes Fiberglass rear hatchs ?
That would free up a decent amount of weight there.
Its gonna be street/strip car , Not daily driver so that why i choose the lexan idea and removing sunroof.
Also, Whats the easiest way to install a lexan front window, i would be buying the lexan from a local window place or home depot..
I put this in a post a few lines down.
Want to loose weight in a civic/crx
Loose the door impact beams and seatbelts for harnesses.
loose the heavy heavy stock seats.
get rid of or make custom or use hf front and rear metal bumpers.
sunroof plug.
ac
heater
keep all the plastics and look "full interior"
all the plastic in the car weighs less then the front seats.
BTW A PERFECT CIRCLE kicks ***
A long time favorite of mine.

Door impact beams, hmm, never thought of that one.
The seats are coming out, forgot to menchion that. Whats a good lightweight seat? Not looking for much bling in a seat so bride is out of the picture.. Sunroof will deffently be coming out for sure, i heard that free's up like 40+lbs? A/C crap is already out. Heater stuff unfortuntly is staying in the car.
Anyone familiar with Fiberglass rear hatchs? Also, trying to gain info on installation of lexan on front window. i seen some use a brace in the middle from the bottom to the top.

make a template out of the stock windshield and the brace in the middle is used mainly for support and to keep the lexan arched in the middle.

Sounds good, but i wouldn't pull the door beams out with out a cage, and if you want to run most FWD classes you can't have lexan, also most states don't allow lexan for windshield on the street, just my .02

There will be a cage installed, i wouldnt drive a car without door beams and it had no protection (cage).
I am not looking to race competition. Looking for a all out street machine. As for getting the car inspected with Lexan, I dont have to worry about that.

That is pretty cheap for complete uncut sheets...
40x72 Sheet is only $200.00 +s/h
