Default Afraid to let loose....

I've been riding my bike a lot lately, and, it's just so hard not to speed on it, and I want to rev it high, but by the time I hit the powerband in first I'm already speeding, I don't need a ticket.

This is pissing me off, it's taunting me, "rev me to 14.5k you know you want to"..

I used to be that way until I turned 17 and had 4 speeding tickets on my record Ride safely man.

I think that's why they built that place where only speeders are allowed to ride... the track

Learn to lean. Youd be amazed how fast 50mph is in a tight turn. Look for people to show you around the local twisties or better yet take it to teh track like tony said. A weekly ride to my local mountain keeps my craving for speed down.

Same here, after a nice ride through the twisties, I end up riding around town at an old man's pace . . .

W3rd! Wringing the bike in 1st gear gets you a costly ticket, and hitting redline in 2nd gets you a free pass to the IDB house. I envy you guys that have roads that curve...st00pid midwest.

Dropping a few $$ to get a chance to open it up on a nice track is well worth it. Either you want to go back and hone your skills on the track, or get scared sh!tless after going at those speeds that you stop speeding all together.

track days really aren't that expensive once you join an organization and sign up as a group. Also the initial costs of track prep usually aren't recurring... other than tires and gas... and bodywork if you're unlucky

Again what tony said. I'm going to try to attend a couple track days this summer. Its only about $150-180(maybe more depending who you go with and where you're going) per track day . I missed out on one a week ago for only $100 at Buttonwillow because I was too poor

yup, not such a good idea to run from a cop when your a noobie. Even with experience theres always that chance of getting killed/caught.

I'm gonna get flamed for this, but living in Iowa, there are plenty of open highways with no cars on them. The roads are flat, a lot of them have new pavement so they are very smooth, they are just asking to be driven fast.

I can also say that there are a lot of places around here that actually have really fun winding roads. Shocking I know. But it seems more people meet up and go riding there than going a million miles an hour down the highway... Imagine that?

That's not a good idea regardless if you are a noob or not.

Yeh in some areas its preatty easy though, were i live you can loose a cop in about 10 seconds and are the districts the police patroll are seperate so you can deak and be in another district in a matter of minutes...not saying i recommend it but its sooooo easy here you'd be silly to pay a ticket...i never go over 65 (first gear) anyway i just ride around in first gear all the time...HAH
