Need a Recommendation on rotors/brakes!
My left rear rotor is torn to shreds, it can't be grinded. I want to replace all my rotors and pads. I'm having a terrible time shopping for them. Give me a hand here guys...getting frustrated. If you could post some links or something.
$131.44 - Brembo - Performance Brake Rotor - Si - Drilled/Slotted - Front - Pair
I only see the front rotors, does Brembo not stock the rear? what the hell? Its actually my rear left rotor thats torn to shreads.
$25.78 Pair - Axxis - Performance Metalic Brake Pads - FRONT - All "Si" Mdls.
And these are only the front pads...where the hell are the rear?

Try this site: http://www.discbrakesrus.com/m...x.htm. We ordered parts for my girlfriend's CRX from them and were happy with the service.
I've also used http://www.kingmotorsports.com for my CRX's brakes.

Axxis metal masters will destroy your rotors. I would go with Hawk HP + for moderate upgrade or go to
http://www.fastbrakes.com
and get an 11" brake upgrade with some 4 piston wilwoods.
EDIT: I have this upgrade and well, I slow down very well to say the least.

hope that helps
Also i got mine for $80 Bucks and I am very happy with my real brembos.

Just discovered this, are my rear brakes drum? and front disc...? I broke down some prices of the websites below.
Push me in the right direction here, i don't want real big rotors, stock size will do me, which i think is 9.5"? is that right? I want to be able to fit slicks on there at a later date, would 11" allow slicks?

You know, that package does look like what i need. That is only the rear though correct?
See i get confused...that site i posted last says i have rear drums...which are not rotor/pads right? Do i even need to bother with the front rotors/pads? its my rear right that has the problem, so replacing both rear rotors/pads makes sence. Should i just leave the fronts?
i stand corrected: "NOTE: $269 is for the complete set of front/rear rotors and pads"
"You are bidding on a brand new set of 2 FRONT + 2 REAR Brembo cross drilled/slotted rotors with a complete set of front and rear Axxis Metal Master semi- metallic pads"
CRXRageD - Why would the Axxis Metal Master destroy my rotors?

I would recommend sticking to stock rear pads, the aftermarket are too much and will create an uncomfortable tail entering corners. 98 GSR uses a harsher compound than earlier years if you would like a little more, but I would recommend sticking to stock. As for up front, if you're real hard on brakes, autozone rotors and a good set of pads is the way to go. If you think you'll get a good service life and don't drive hard all the time then consider the brembo or powerslots (no crossdrilled). The most important component of the braking system, and the largest upgrade you can make is installing a set of stainless brake lines. If you were short on cash, I'd recommend getting cheap brake parts and getting the lines. Also upgrading to a 15/16" master, out of a 90-1 civic EX, is quite nice, even with stock sized brakes, and probably couldn't hurt if your car still has the stock master cylinder.
i recently did earls SS brake lines w/ powerstop x-drilled and slotted rotors with axxis pads. and all i can say is WOW, OH MY GOD! i ****** love em!

Not sure what you mean by that. I'm not auto-crossing or anything of that nature. 1/4 mile as of now will be the only event on my list.

money should be spent on the pad and not the rotor.

Also there is less surface area for the pad to contact than a regular rotor, and still considerably less than a slotted. Forgot the exact percentages, do a search, tons of good reaidng available.
The fronts are really what do the braking, so if you have disc rears, then don't worry about them, the stock units do fine and there is little to be gained by upgrading these. If the rear brake is the one that is torn up then you may want to take it apart and make sure the caliper is not frozen before spending your money on the pads and rotors first. Get a set of Goodridge stainless steel brake lines, best ~$130 you can spend on your car. Out of every upgrade I've ever done, brake lines are by far the biggest improvement, I'd say even better even than an engine swap.

Frozen, as in stuck up or down...it definetely still moves (grinds even more when i press the brake)
I'll have to think about brake lines at a later date, thanks though.

They can lock where they will move out when depressing the pedal, but will not return properly causing a destroyed rotor. My CRX had this problem with both calipers cause it sat for about a year before I bought it.
Well,
I got my rotors and pads are being shipped as we speak.
Thanks NINJASPY
Went with the autozone rotors and was well under $100 $64 bucks.
Hawks HPS pads from King Motorsports $64 shipped
I went ahead and just got all 4 from hawk, hps...just ease i suppose.
Now the install. I'll have to do the pads next week, but maybe i can do the rotors this weekend.
Thanks for all the input guys. Cheers.

don't forget to bed in(break in) the pads correctly, it'll make the brakes feel sooo good.... there is also a break in procedure for the rotors, but I did'nt even bother as the rotors are so cheap and I never knew rotors needed to be broken in.
and remember you dont have a race brakes, just better than stock; semi-aggressive street setup which can lock up the brakes whenever needed
