Default AFCs effectiveness

Would the AFC (SAFC or VAFC, I or II) be effective in the fuel trim functions? This is going to be on a DC5 JDM ITR. Would the ECU trim out the modified signals from the AFC over time rendering the fuel adjustments on the AFC useless?

we did some testing on a base rsx with an AFC>.. the results were shitty. the car would go right back to the stock fuel curves after a few pulls on the dyno. if we tried to correct too much the ecu got pissed and threw a cel
