Went to the track with my NA EG!!
Here's my motor setup B16 I/H/E, milled head 30 thous, CTR cams, ignition, t-body, gsr tranny. First time at the track with the car.
Third run on the track (best run with bald street tires):'
Reaction.... .566
60ft........... 2.381
330ft......... 6.260
1/8 ET....... 9.350
1/8 MPH..... 79.68
1/4 ET........ 14.250
1/4 MPH..... 95.94
Best run with slicks on the car
Reaction.... 1.077
60ft........... 1.997
330ft......... 5.744
1/8 ET....... 8.799
1/8 MPH..... 78.86
1/4 ET........ 13.679
1/4 MPH..... 98.81
Unfortunately on the last run the driver misshifted and when he pulled into the pit area we found that the alternator belt had broken (snapped off)
and created a gash in the hood. Want to ask you guys how come the belt snapped. I took a look at the belt and it wasn't old. What do you think caused the belt to snap. Please help. Also if you could analyze the time I would appreciate it.
Here's is some pics of the car at the track enjoy.

not bad for being at carlsbad.
maybe the belt is too tight? how are your motor mounts? possibly too much stress on your drivetrain with the slicks...who knows im just guessing. hopefully you didnt drive the car down there...

How did you know I ran at Carlsbad
, good guess??
I don't know how tight the belt was, how would the motor mounts affect the belt?? Well the mounts are kinda worn so, maybe that would be a possibility, which caused the motor to flex more than it should have.
Unfortunately I did drive the car down there so I was stuck. I had to be towed out of the track and I got a replacement belt, and fixed in in the taco bell parking lot and drove the car home. What a day, but it was a lot of fun. Personally I just wanted to drive with the street tires but my friend ( who owned those slicks) insisted that we run with the slicks on the car. Well it was fun.

Yeah I know the car looks mean with the slicks. As for the weight, I don't have the exact weight of the car but it is stripped, no carpet and back seat.
wow what a difference in street tires vs the slicks. the top end is laggin with the street tires on big time. only 95MPH through the 1/4 with a 79MPH trap at the 1/8th mark. must have something to do with the tire size difference.
Wow now that you mention it yeah my top end is lagging. But on street tires I am riding on 14's, so what kind of tire size should I be running.???
i was just more or less commentin on the difference of the 2 runs. also thats assuming this was a full pass without lettin off. big difference. must b the overall gear ratio change with differnt sized tires is all.
I threw my alternator belt on my B16 at the track a couple months ago. I decided to run it without and actualy dropped a tenth (13.95) in my teg. I think rev'n it to 9500 will throw allot of belts. Now I keep a spare belt when I go to the track.

No, I have a Walbro 190, cause I'm building a NA gsr, so I put it in now anyway. The pump didn't do a damn thing power wise, just lost a few MPG's. oh well.

I was afraid to run it without the belt, cause the battery light came on right after it snapped, and also because i've got an ignition system so I didn't take any more chances. I have revved my B16 to 9000 rpm + numerous times on the street with no problems!! That's a good idea of taking a spare belt to the track. Thanks for the input guys.
