Hmm. Another road course that's not an eternity from NC. I think I like that. It takes me ~5 hours or so to get to DC. How much longer is it to Englishtown?

DC to Philly area is about 2 1/2 hours or so. E-town is in central Jersey, so I would think it would take you about another hour on top of that. So, about 3 1/2 from DC....

Matt...

It usually takes me 6 hours to get to Englishtown if the DC traffic isnt too bad. That's 10 mph over the limit the whole way.

I might have to check this out. Chalk up another track I need to visit.

this is great news! i'm only about an hour away. road racing every weekend is very tempting

what do you guys think of the layout? it looks very tight with those 90 degree turns.

Englishtown is about 2.5-3 hours from Baltimore, which is an hour from DC.

A few comments:

1. That's a LOT of turns for a 1.1 mile track. Looks like 15-20. Most tracks that length have less than roughly 10.

2. No apparent grid, pit, or paddock. MARRS events draw upwards of 200 participants, many with large rigs. That's a lot of additional cars and trailers to squeeze into existing paddock.

3. Track looks too narrow for club racing use (assuming it is to scale). This would also preclude motorcycles.

4. No runoff space between switch-backs in track (would require MANY concrete/armco barriers to keep cars from crossing onto other sections). This would lead to many FCYs or worse.

5. Only 2 flag towers? There should be one at nearly every corner.

Does anybody know who's heading up this project? I just want to make sure the track will be usable as a club racing venue. The current design looks more suited to driver's ed and karting than wheel-to-wheel competition.

I have very much the same concernes, it is I believe supposed to be a 1.5 mile track, but maybe im wrong, but still, thats to many curves.... Wouldn't be able to get out of second most of the track...

Sorry for the big pic..

Yikes!! I thought it would have been great for a 3 mile course. 1.5 you say??? Maybe I won't be going there after all. Reminds me of the pics from one of the "ghost tracks" from that SportsCar issue a while back that had all those switchbacks so close together. What was it, Marlboro?? Did safety concerns finally kill that track?

I thought the same thing when I saw the pic. Looks like it would be a great go-kart track, except for the safety issues if they have to put Armco up in-between the loops. It said 1.5 miles on the earlier post, if its only that long they need to remove a few sections and open it up a bit.

wow, i thought it was at least 3 miles too. maybe this is just one of the first preliminary plans drawn? i don't see the scale for it, but whatever it is, it's still close, which is a good thing. i just hope that it's a fun course to run.

This is horrible news.. That's all I need is road courses nearby.. I'm trying _NOT_ to get addicted to anything more than autocross.

must resist Pocono! and soon Etown too! If there are any other tracks near me, do _NOT_ point them out to me! The go-fast crack pipe must be resisted!

Based on the plan/map, if that is to be 1.5 miles and it is anywhere near scaled, it will be nearly undriveable in a groups of sports cars for school purposes, much less a pack of racecars! We would all be lucky to get into 3rd gear on that thing! But as a dedicated autocross/timetrial course, it could work...

Curious if the rumored length is correct, and if so, why they made it so twisty...
