Default 1/8 mile

going out to the track again tonight.. gonna see if i can run faster with the header, Cat and midsection. should give me a few tenths right?? i hope so.. ill post time slips later.. my best run in the Z was a 10.2 at 68mph. lately ive been runnin 10.4 because of the hot weather,no more passes for the Z because im leakin oil pretty bad now . Its cooler out so that should be better for the times.. the civic ran a 10.8 @63 2nd allthe way out, with just an intake.. So well see what happens

lol. He said "Z" like he was referencing a Nissan Z car or a Camaro Z28. hehehehehe Even funnier when you find out what kind of a car it really is and how he's not running it anymore because it's leakin' too much oil. Sorry, I thought this was too funny.

Well at the very least he's keeping his racing at the track and not on the street.

As cool as it is for all of us to mercilessly pick on every poor soul who doesn't happen to be a track-junky...

Z24-guy, smart move on running at the track, keep it safe and have fun!

What is this 1/8 mile thing? Why not run the whole 1/4? I don't understand the logic. There are actually drag strips 1/8 for a mile long? What? Not enough real estate?

Yeah, they are pretty popular here too - I hear about them all the time. Seems like a good idea (property costs, insurance, etc . . . )

I have to think that you'll pick up at least a few tenths. Of course..who's to say if that was the driver having a better day?

Arrgh...the frustrations of setting up a car.

I don't honestly know what my car does in the 1/8. I know I ran a 15.2 @ 91 or so mph in the 1/4, and I SUCK. My reaction and 60' times were terrible. Oh, and the ignition system was busted.

1/8 mile are VERY popular in the South. There are 3 of them w/ in an hr drive my house, w/ a total of 13 of them in TN alone. There are only 3 1/4 mile tracks in all of TN.

1/8 is also a good place to work on rt and 60 ft. these will help in solo 2 events. They arent as hard on the motor as the 1/4.

Right, but R/T doesn't affect speed or time. 60' times I know something about. At least, I know the Integra would pull 2.5-2.6 at a ProSolo where the Imprezas were pulling 2.0-2.1.

My Z24 will do a 2.2 60 ft. the civic was a consistant at 2.4 and the best was 2.41 which isnt bad at all.. the civic hit 65 mph which isnt bad either..

yup...a 60' time at a dragstrip does not relate to that of a ProSolo. The "launchpad" at a dragstrip is much tackier with the massive amounts of rubber laid down from the big cars. Oh, and don't they spread some sort of traction compound down, normally? VHT?

Yes, drag strips are faster than Pro-solo's!

I had a best of 2.3X second 60 ft time at Rockingham dragway in my '00 Celica GTS (on street tires), but at the Petersburg Pro Solo I never got under 2.4x seconds on the Kuhmo autocross tires.

But, the technique was the same, it is just a matter of optimizing the RPM, clutch slip/drop, etc. Things not really meant to be practiced on the street.

Drag racing was my first love. It was just a joke between Corey and I. Corey is always giving me a hard time about drag racing. He is the one who got me started on the Track days. He is usually "anti-Drag racing" so i was giving him a hard time. thats all I prob have more drag races under my belt than half the people on the board.

Trips to the same dyno are even better!

for the motor yes, but for wheels and tires and what the power actually does track times are more meaningful. I would love to get as many dyno runs as I would want for $15, but that isnt going to happen.
