PLS HELP WITH B16A2 SWAP
ok ok....i know my hondas...but i dont know my electrical.....me and my buddy swaped a b16a2 into his 98 civic hatch...dx (canadian...d16y7)
and are having sum probs with it...it came complete with ecu, harness, tranny, axles blah blah....here are our problems....as of this moment it runs quite well actually...pretty damn fast....but the CEL is on...meaning that vtech will not engage for engine safety reasons right..ok....after the vehicle is at proper temperature..the idle becomes ruff, basically surges...vroom...vroom...sorta pulsates....we have no speedo...no tach, no reverse lights...i was tuly hoping that some one on here would be able to help us out.....i will try to make sure that there still isnt any more air trapped in the coolant lines...what are we doing wrong...pls help...constuctive critism is welcome...ALL help is greatly appreciated!!! thank you

Thats why Vtec is not engaging. Check your codes and see what they are.

i had the same problem i know eaxactly whats wrong and u wont like the solution let start here u used the 99-00 engine harness? right of course u did that is why there is cel and u can read the code and there is no speedo what i did was used my original dx harness and modded it to work u will have to get a gs-r computer to do this though because the si computer wont plug into a 98 harness
and also u will have to pull the pin out of harness ecu side for the iac valve and move one spot to the left i think for the gs-r pin location is differant i had the same prob in my 96 hatch with a b16a2 swap the plugs have pin diff pin locations in the plug in the upper left hand corner of the engine compartment u could mess around with htem but i found it easier to do it this way and runs alot better with the gs-r computer anyway
if u have any questions im me i can give u a cell number so i can explain in better detail

ok...have a tach now....still havent been able to get the ecu read yet....no speedo...i can hard wire it if need be.....engine still pulsates...will try to bleed any and all air out of the coolant and go from there....was driving it home...in 5th gear...bog right out to the point that i HAD to shift down to 4th to get it to go again.....hoping to get further tomorrow...get ecu read.....as for the harness thing...werkin on it...first things first...need to get the frikin ecu read.....pls...thank u for yr help, anything further is greatly appreciated
no, no, no...... do the wiring harness first! that's the basis for your whole engine control system.....

ok...god inputs so far...but still no luck...does anyone have any diagrams or ****.? sumthing visual...maybe iunno...just frustrating right now......

so im using the 98 engine harness as we speak....can i use it...then use the plugs from both...to use in the b16a2 ecu? wire in the vtec and **** that way?

thats not going to work your useing diffrent wire system. Ask Tom Or Vtec Villan there good wiring guru's. I do know your not going to be able to use that stock b16 harness
