Default HID Lighting?

I am looking into changing my 98 headlights over to HID lights. I was wondering if anyone could tell me which brand and color of light would be the best to go with. I do not want a purple looking light but something similar to what the S2000 puts out. I'm not sure which kelvin of light this is but that's the color of light that I'm looking for.

thanks
jason

Well first off this subject has been covered a lot in H-T, but since your new, please use the search function. But in my experiences and reading I have found that the 4300K HID kit puts out the best light. Also you need to get xenon headlights in order to take full potenial of the HID. Right now your car is probably have the halogen reflectors which will work but not as good as the xenon projectors. Please don't get the aftermarket reflectors/headlights not only do they look like *** (IMO) they put out worse lighting. Check out http://www.hidforum.com for lots of good HID information.

just so you know, xenon is the type of gas found in the HID bulbs...it's what gets "excited" when the arc passes through it...when excited at different temperatures it creates a nice glow of different colors, and thus producing enormous amounts of light...

first of all if u want the look of the s2k you are not going to get it out of and HID kit. the lighting itself doesnt come from the actually bulbs itself but a combonation of the bulb and the actual projectors. the amazing cutoff the s2k are known for lies in the projector. most aftermarket HID kits have lots of glare and are illegal to sale now as of 8-15 of last year i believe. check this hid site out http://www.hidretro.com. this guy has done lots of hid retro jobs, with s2k projectors and the gen 6 accord. the s2k projectors are a little pricey check the price that is listed on each retro if u dont believe me. i myself have done a retro with E-46 bi-xenon from the BMW 3 series cars, the output is very nice and spread. do a search on my name BuCxLuXoRx2o0o on http://www.hidforum.com for pics of my retro and the output of the light the retro is putting down. o yea check the classfied section on this forum for 01 S2K headlights complete w/ HID ( OEM bulbs and ballast). let me know if u are interested.

I know but they normally refer to the projectors as xenon or bi-xenon projectors. I guess its the easiest way to separate them with halogen projo's or HID projo's.

go with hella, phillip, oem(honda s2k,a6 audi, TL, bimmer, etc)

dont buy mcculloch, catz, korean brand, etc

4300k supposely give you the best light output, you could go little higher like..7000K for the blue looks, just personal perference here
