Anyone have experience running 215's on 15x6.5? Tire q's
From what I understand, people have run 215's and even 225's on 15x6's, but they do sometimes rub. I will be running 6.5's.
I am dropped over 2", and never rub with my 205's. The whole contact patch vs tire width thing is what Im curious about as well. Im looking to run 215/50's on my 6.5" wheel, and would like to know any benefits from moving up from a 195 or 205 in this case.
What specs of the tire do I have to make sure to pay attn to to make sure they wont rub? I can just compare to the same specs of the tires I have now that do not rub.
Im happy with my 205's, but Im looking to do what I can to improve hooking up from a roll.

Not having much luck in the Integra forum, so Im looking to get some of the ITR guys opinions.
What will I gain by running a wider tire, and is it even worth it, or should I stick to a 205 tire unless I upgrade to a 15x7 wheel?

chris connely was running 225's with stock R wheels. he bought my Kosei K1's though. good luck with it. I would use 7" wheels at minimum and you will have to use some crazy camber. I would think it would be a waste of time unless your seriouse about tracking that thing.
what size tire are you thinking????

Well, I plan on sticking with my 6.5's, I just want to cram the widest tire possible in there. Supposedly 225s will rub on full turns, 215's should be OK.
I was just going to give 215/50/15 a shot and see how they are. But only if the benefits justify getting them (mainly traction). Im happy with my braking and cornering with the 205's now, Im just not certain exactly how the 215s will change the characteristics of the car.

well, just like anyone else would tell you here, 15x7 will give you less tire slop than a 15x6.5 will on a 215...
then again, if it fits it fits.
i run 205 azenis (which are closer to 211-212mm) on a 15x6 wheel, and i dont feel/notice the slop...probably because i havent tried on a 15x7 wheel.
each his own, but as misfit points out above...if your not using 215's for track, you wont notice the difference

How much will tire width affect hooking up? Traction is my main concern, and if getting 215's will help, Ill do it.
Its not for road racing, or drag racing, or anything particular...just about tires and generally what affects what. Im not doing any road racing or competitive racing, I just want to hook up better when accelerating and want to know if stepping up to a 215 would aid me in that battle.
