might be buying a honda, got some questions
i am starting to get sick of having an automatic car, especially one so hard to mod. i currently own a v6 avenger, they are REALLY good looking cars, but have little potential. plus it has HIGH mileage
i'm looking at a 1998 honda hatchback, manual tranny, how quick are they stock? how good of a car is it? what are it's common problems?

if you are talking about the civic hatchback. you may want to wander over to the civic forum. or if you're looking at an integra then you should go to the integra forum. even with modding a civic hatch, you won't get the same power as your avenger. but you'll have the manual tranny and a great suspension to start with.
u'd be surprised at the low numbers the avenger v6 puts out actually. it is only a 2.5L and the tranny is WEAK and the car is VERY heavy. like 3600 lbs i believe.
my car has VERRRRY little aftermarket support.
the avenger v6 auto put's out around 130hp at the wheel and i doubt my high mileage car even does that. that can't be much more than a honda i4 with manual tranny can it? plus there is almost unlimited aftermarket support for these (as compared to the avenger anyways).
edit
yes it is based on the eclipse. the 4 cylinder has the exact same engine, the v6 is based on the eclipse v6 but is .5 L smaller and a little different. anyways, it's still quite a bit heavier than the eclipse, and no one has accomplished a manual v6 avenger yet.

the 1.6l sohc D16 (non-vtec) motor puts out maybe 85whp. it is rated at 107 hp. but, a swap is very easy. whether it be a b-series with or without vtec or a vtec d16. the d16 is great for boost. another swap that is coming on the scene for the hatch is the K20 from the new Si and RSX. my girlfriend has a new stratus sedan and its got a v6 with autostick. i didn't know they put in a new motor now, cause her's is a great little car.
i do know that the avenger is based on the mitsu eclipse/galant platform. so, there is some aftermarket potential there. but, you're right. nothing like the civic and integra.
