whats up guys just got my Std ef hatchback tranny noise diagnois needed
hey guys if u read my other thread i was about to pick up my ef hatch,
its a 90 std hatch with 206xxx miles
clean title
red paint still good, barely any dings, seat has rip interior clean.
i got it for 800 smogged, runs real good and good gas mileage. problem is the tranny in CITY DRIVING, from first all the way to the begining of third makes a real loud whine noise that seems to get louder the higer in rpm. throw out bearing? main shaft bearing problem? um when i turn the sound doesnt go away, so does that throw out the differntial?
i looked up on search and some ppl had the same problem but i couldnt really apply it to my problem, from what the search says could be throw out bearing or main shaft? i really appreicate any help you guys can throw me, im not a newb at all i know some stuff about trannys and would really like some input. if any more questions are needed for help in diagnosing shoot it my way. thanx guys

it cant be the mainshaft bearing right? cause it would make noise all the time? it only makes noise city driving not freeway driving. it goes away when i push the CLUTCH IN, so throw out bearing?
i been reading threads and i guess its my input shaft bearing
, it makse this awful helicopter rumbiling noise in CITY DRIVING like 1rst thru begining of 3rd.
can anyone confirm that it is the ISB?

sometimes when i let the clutch out while going into first it wont make the noise. but other times when i let off first and get on the gas a little the grumbling noise comes.

The best thing you could probably do is just get a 89-91 Si 5-speed and put it in w/ a new clutch, PP, and throw out bearing. fix the problem and give you much better gearing than that 4-spd!!

? the rumbling helicopter noise gets louder while the car goes up in the rpm thru the begning of 3rd in city driving, ive read threads and most ppl say its the input mainshaft bearing, how could it be the throw out bearing anyone else?

input shaft bearing...my 90Si had the same problem...find a Si tranny and get its all sorted out in one shot and have an upgraded tranny at the same time
