Yes they fit but if I remember you have to use the 88-89 tail harness.
The harness just plugs on and off real easy.

They mention 90/91 cause 88/89 and 90/91 tails are different in appearence, the 90/91 tails have a darker center piece and a dark trim trace around the tails.

Woah, that guy needs to modify his post, THe 90-91 tails use differenct plugs than the 88-89 tails. You need to get the plugs from a 90-91, from a junkyard or something, but otherewise the plugs wotn fit. They look much nicer imo, but yeah, need the plugs too.

u need to edit your post , cause everything has been mentioned. He has a 88-89 so he is going to re-use his original tailight plugs.

yeah, why would you use 90 - 91 light harness on a 88 - 89. use your original harness from your car, just snap it on and plug it up. works everytime.

as long as there aren't any problems like leaks or off-center bolt patterns, im good...

i can deal with the harness i think.....incidentally, anyone selling some great condition OEM *88-91* crx tails? all mine are cracked and the gaskets are crumbling.

I've read both sides, some need to mod and some don't. So what is the straight story!?

People get confused, because in europe and Japan we got a rear foglight.
Those harnesses are different.

Here in europe also the 88/91 harnesses are different, because the 88 style tails have 2 reverse lights, and a fog, and the 91 have 1 reverse light and1 fog.

Hope that clears something up.

I have it done on my crx, 90 taillights in a 89
all you have to do is use your harness from the 89 put it in the 90 taillights clips right in
no problem. and bolts up no problem the gaskets are the same also.

So your basically saying this:
1) unbolt stock tails
2) bolt on 90-91 tails
3) plug it in and go?

Yes, You DO NOT NEED TO CHANGE THE HARNESS. It is plug and play. I have an 88 hf and I used 91 Taillights. PLUG & PLAY

I only have experience with USDM and JDM. European I am not sure about.

the reason why you should use the 90-91 harness is because the 90-91 taillights uses 2 brake light bulbs whereas the 88-89 taillights only has 1. you can always find another socket for 1157 bulb and just solder it onto it. but with the 90 - 91 harness is much cleaner and easier.

Then why was mine plug and play. I did NOTHING to the harness. I have all lights working and all I did was bolt the lights too the car.

Does the HF have a SPECIAL harness

Some guys have got to do there home work damn. 88-89 plugs for the tailights are different then the 90 91. 90 91 they are a rectangle plug and on the 88 89 they are more of a square they dont plug right up. You would have to cut the clips off a junkyard car and wire them in just like y49crxsi said. oh and if you need 88 89 taillight's i have some from when i did my conversion. pm me if you are interested.
