Need some suggestions
Hey I'm not sure if this is the right board for this but.... I am planning on buying a typer. Anyhow I might be buying a R from cross country. I live in California and the R is in Atlanta. Anyhow you guys got any suggestions on how I should handle this? After getting the car checked out and such. How should I go about sending the money, getting pinkslip? You guys have any suggestions on a shipping company?
When I do get the car do I need to go through any thing special to get it registered? Any kind of inspections?
Sorry for the noob questions. Thanks.

Arrange to have the car dealer-inspected (pre-purchase inspection) before you book your flight. Stay in contact with the dealer and get the 'results' from them.
If the seller has a lien on the vehicle, it will have to be paid before you get the title. If you cannot get the lien when you pick up the car, write a sales contract and sign it front of a notary stating that he will pay off the car, and send you the title within xx days certified mail, etc, etc.
I would book a flight and drive it back rather than shipping it. Hard to buy a car without seeing it for me. Registration should be whatever it is in california, although i've heard horror stories about titling a car from out of state due to the gross incompitency of the DMV there. YMMV.

yea, I wanted to work out a price before I told him to take it to the dealer to be inspected. I'd be all for driving it back.... if it wasnt 2k miles away haha. the seller mentioned Credit Union for the title transfer/money. Anybody have experience with Credit Union?

I'm not sure what you mean...
Is the car financed through a credit union? Drive it back
Should take you 2 days with a co-pilot.
Have the car dealer inspected before you book your flight, IMO.

Honestly? If I was selling my R and someone from Cali told me to take it to the dealer for an inspection, I would laugh at them and tell them thanks, but no thanks.
Especially with an R. He'll find a buyer, it's just a matter of time.
Sorry if that was overly honest.

I'm not to sure myself. I'm guessing Credit Union will hold the pinkslip until the seller gets the money? Or the other way around.
Your opinion is definatly wanted
I was planning on paying for the inspection, but he offered to split it, so I guess it works out for me.
Maybe you guys can give me an opinion on how much I should pay.
Its a 97 with a clean title and 145k milage (ouch)
The interior from what I've seen looks a bit dirty, a small crack on the windshield, and theres some scrapes on the outside.

Oh anyone have experience with Baranco Acura? He would be taking it there for service. I looked at the rate your dealership and they seem to have really good ratings.

Whatever you do don't goe with Car-Go!!!! I would recommend just paying for a plane ticket on priceline.com...I mean no matter what precautions you take the shipping companies don't care about an "R" MINE WAS STOLEN OF A SHIPPING TRUCK!!!! PM me and I can give you advice.
I would think there are plenty of ITRs for sale in Cali or somewhere nearer to you on the West coast. You can use the money saved on airfare, hauling the car back, etc., towards another local ITR. There really seems to be nothing especially great about that particular ITR, except for possibly the price.

I agree. Have a little patience and find one closer to home. There are nicer 'R's to be had.
