I'm doing the front brakes and replacing the rotors...however,the 2 screws that hold the rotor on are being beotches...can I just drill them out? They don't serve a purpose once the wheel is installed, right?Any other tips on getting them off? They're soft and strip easily. Thanks in advance!
You need this,

Go here to get it,
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr...Tools
It costs 25.00 before tax. Those screws won't be any trouble at all.

you can get em a lot cheaper on ebay, or from harbor freight. search for "impact driver" this is the proper method to remove the screws without stripping them.
another successful way is to use a chisel/screwdriver to tap into the outer edge of the screw and torque it out with a hammer.

impact screwdriver mmmmm good......Thats my recomendation but if you've already stripped them beyond get a drill....all the do is hold the rotor on while the wheel and caliper are off.....
If you have to drill them out I'd use an "Easy out to go ahead and get the shank out of the hub. Honda put those screws in there for a reason. I know they are a pain sometimes but keeping the hat on the hub seems like a good idea to me.

Yeah do it right...i stripped mine using a DeWalt drill with phillips bit and man did i learn my lesson. I was so paranoid when drilling out those screws...didn't want to have to get new hubs.

if you dont have that impact tool, get a philip screw driver and hammer the **** out of it!! it'll loosen the thread on the inside then you'll be able to unscrew it with your hand. ive done it plenty of times.
I just got done stripping mine two pieces, and yes they are biotches!!! I just went to SEARS and got the EZ out stripped screw removal kit (as seen on tv
) It worked fairly well but now I have a screw that is completely bored out in the middle... finally it came loose though and im glad I got some extras...
SPARK NOTES: go to SEARS

Right. All they do is keep the rotor aligned, they don't actually hold it on - most domestic vehicles don't even use rotor screws.
I use an impact driver and a lot of PB-Blaster fluid to get mine out, because they're almost always rusted or seized. The screws are actually pretty hard - hard enough to break the tip off of an impact driver bit.
Happened to me twice. All the technicians at the Honda dealership keep extra impact driver bits on hand because this is a common problem with these shitty rotor screws.
I use a little anti-seize compound on the threads when I reinstall them, so that they don't freeze up in there.

Well, finally got it done...3 came right off with a stubby philips, but one was seized so I chiseled into the edge with a flat screwdriver then used a hammer to turn it counter clockwise. The rest of the job went smooth...I just didn't put the rotor screws back on very tight. Thanks for all the tips and idea,I'm sure other people will be asking the same question!
I couldnt get mine out I just drilled mine out. They are unnessecary. With the wheel and caliper installed they cant go anywhere.
