Spark Plug color on your track only cars?
What do your spark plugs look like after a year of racing? This past summer I converted my car into a track only car and 90% of the miles on it came while out on the track. I just replace the plugs the other day and they were black. No build up or anything, just a dry flat black color. They looked normal in every other way. The car also seems to running just fine.
Before the car was a track car the plugs used to turn a nice dark tan color. Is the black color I have now because the car operates under full throttle most of the time thus the A/F is a bit rich? Is this a normal color for the plugs on a track car or should they still be a dark tan color?
but your car should run a bit rich when at full throttle right? 14.7 a/f would be way too lean for full throttle. Was the tan plugs out of a car used for racing only?
Thanks for the help. I'm just trying to figure out if I have a problem or not.

The H22 does run quite rich under WOT plus it's an oil burning pig under hard use which doesnt help either. When I used to track my 98SH, it was not uncommon to go through a quart of oil in 50-60 track miles. With <30K miles on the motor. The plugs would be as you described after a track day but would return to normal dark tan color after a few days street use...
