Default California ITR Drivers!!!

Is it true that type Rs don't pass the california smog test? If that is true how do you get yours pass? or you just don't care?

That is something someone told me that i just wanted to check on

Just curious where you heard this from?

This is the 3rd time I've seen this question on 2 different sites in the past week or so.

if its modded, then thats a whole new ballgame.

technically if it didnt pass smog/emissions/inspection, its illegal to sell it.

Clearly.

But, that's true in many states. Not just in California.

There may be some logic to this question. I used toi get letters from an independant testing company that requested the use of my car for a couple days and in return would get an rsx loaner. The letter stated there was a chance that the emissions system was not designed up to par and that my vehicle would undergo emissions testing on a dyno. Lots of socal peeps got the same letter. Not sure if anyone ever went for it.

Have to smog mine in June. Let's see what happens.

I'd always wondered what I was going to have to do about getting my turbo through emissions testing. Luckily it's replacement is still registered in Ohio (in a non-echeck area).

Good luck guys!

I passed "visual" with all my mods.

I needed a new (used) kitty to pass the sniffer. I'm sure the kitty is dead, now... Damn oil consumption.

Even if you're modded, if you tune it up right before you test it... and test it hot - you'll pass. Even in the "high standard" counties, the CA test isn't too hard for a NA Honda.

I think i've received about 20 of these letters from HAM requesting use of a stock ITR for emissions testing; latest one about a month ago.

That says it all.
If you are listening to Mustang drivers at your local 7/11 about your car choice, you are in trouble
I bet many more Rustangs fail the emissions test per capita than ITR's.

Why would you think they "just don't care"?
They'd have to pass emissions and the like just like everyone else!!

When did you pass smog? Here in the bay area, I've never met anyone that passed with a aftermarket tb and a high flow cat.
