Default D-series LSD Question D15B tranny??

hey guys, I hear the only factory LSD for the D-series was behind the JDM D15B engine?? what years/cars did this come in? what is the number for the tranny if possible??

also will it bolt up and all to a D16Y8 or is the LSD inside at least transferable to my tranny??

thanks!

you can't transfer the lsd to your tranny, but it will bolt up to your motor.

ok cool, but um...what cars/years did it come in? the contact I have in japan is asking cause he has no clue...

also, aside from physically bolting up what else would be different? would I need custom axles? my vss fit it? is it hydro or cable? etc etc...

What?? I bought my daily driver (my other car) from a small independent car-dealership here and, because the car had been in an accident, they had to replace a lot of stuff.
And they put in JDM D15B VTEC motor/tranny. Does that mean it has LSD and I didn't know it??

Seriously.

from what I've heard it's also a rare option-only tranny dude so who knows which one you have. that's why I'm trying to find out what the tranny code is for it.

I know I've seen a few ppl on here claiming to have one so I was hoping one of them would see this post.

You should be able to solve this question with a burnout.

The 92-95 Civic JDM VTi with the three stage vtec, came with a dealer optional LSD. So just being a D15B doesn't mean it has a LSD, as the motor code was used in a few different motors, and not all of them are the same. The only true way to tell is to pull the axles out and look. No burn outs, no spinning one tire, just looking.

yeah he's right except it only had 2 stage vtec (i have one)..

it's an option as i don't have the LSD in my tranny, code is S20 something but then again they all are, read somewhere that it should have LSD sticker/stamp on the bell housing?

The tranny will bolt up to your engine no problem, but like was stated above the internals cannot be swapped. I do know it was only offered a few years and is very rare. I have had mine for about two years. I will check my paperwork for the name of the place I got it from. They are hard to come by becuase most places either don't know they have them or they just get one or two in a shipment. Mine maybe up for sale soon since I am upgrading to a 98 tranny and Quaife. Your factoey axles should work fine also. I just popped my old axles in with the tranny.

Pop your hood, if you have two vtec solenoids, you have three stage.

I know that already.. but fair enough point..i think the JDM EK Vti which superseeded my car came with 3 stage VTEC and other gadgetry such as the CVS transmission not the EG models..

the 92-95 D15B's had 2 stage VTEC (like the SOHC VTEC USDM engines) and the 96-00 D15B's had 3 stage VTEC.

not that lsd. they tend to explode at the 130hp level, ask mista bone if you don't believe me. save and get the y8 tranny with the quaife. lsd is expensive as hell, but it's one of the best things you can invest in. save up.
