Default confused on b18c1 block vs b16a2 block

ive read every single archived post about a gsr block vs a b16 block. i am planning on staying with my b16a2 fully built p&p head and my b16 tranny with quaife. the thing im confused on is the hp and trq advantage of a b18c1 over a b16a2 block. whatever block i use, it will have 84mm sleeves, crower rods, and if i go with the gsr block 9.5:1 je's or if i stay with the b16 block i will go with 9:1 je's, because i know a b16 head on a b18c1 block will lower the comp .2:1. but my confusion is on the advantages of teh gsr block. or another option is a gsr head and a gsr block. i know the head comparison is debatable. what do you guys think?
how would a gsr head and block react with a b16 tranny?

GSR block has a slightly longer stroke, and a main cap girdle.

GSR longblock with a B16 tranny is preferred by many for it's shorter gearing (for ANY setup... boost included)

You're looking at .2 of a liter difference from the get go. If you are going 84mm, you will be at 1.8L with the B16 block, use the GSR block and you'll have a 2.0L.

Differences are small in my opinion once you're tuning the boost up a lot. You may see a 40hp difference when you're over 500whp.

so once i get around 500whp, the use of the gsr block will have somewhere around 40whp more than if i use the b16 block

what about the trq difference

im starting to lean towards the full gsr setup with the b16 tranny, i want the 1.8 block for sure, but then it comes to that choice of what head

You can't just throw numbers out there like that... In the end like I've said many times it all up to the displacement, bigger motor pushes more air and can support a bigger turbo... At the same boost levels with the same internals (keeping the compression the same on each), and the proper tuning the GSR "should" make more power... How much, I don't really know but as soon as we dyno Will's car I should hopefully be able to give you a little better idea... I just don't understand why you're basing everything off the head soo much, that and the change in compression from aren't that big of factors on an FI motor... We probably use more P72 cylinder heads only because we build more GSR motors... The torque numbers should also be better but I'm not going to give you any specific ones now... My advice would be to just stick with the B18C, use your current head, and you'll be set...

my main question is, is it really worth it to get a gsr block over using the b16 block? like, is it that much better? thats the kinda numbers i wanna see. i know the heads arent a big deal theyre practically the same.

I guess the main thing then is what kind of power are you looking for... You should be able to make 400-500whp pretty easily with a B16... If you want more than that I would say work with a B18 bottom end...

B16 blocks can make seriuos HPs but torque suck ***** while the B18c puts out more on both...

If you just want lots of HP for long runs on the freeway or something then it'll save you money on a block cause you already have one.
But if you want to do alot of track then you might consider having a bit more torque with the HP

Anyways goodluck on your decision!

not too dificult to make 500+ on either really.
info is here. just a matter of money. both blocks can do it.
