My hunt for a ITR? Need input and advice!
I really like the ITRs and the 97s have a huge part of why I love the ITR. I am going to be either buying a 97 ITR from someone which I am currently talking to 2 members who are parting ways with their 97 ITRs. But as with anyone who loves cars, I would feel kinda bad tearing apart and heavily modding of a bone stock 97 ITR, becuase so few remain stock. As I would be storing the drivetrain and keep all parts I would take off. I have thought of buying a theft recovery and building myself a nasty ITR. I have a pretty good sum of money to play around with.. I am torn between the ideas becuase building the perfect 97 ITR is what I want to do, yet I also dont want all the headache. I have been working on cars for years and I am highly trained in many aspects with strong lean towards to Engine systems, OBD2, and mutiplex systems. Also have backround in engine blueprinting and aftermarket tuning of Turbo and nitirous cars.. I am confused becuase, I want to build the ITR for balance/handling, yet have enough power to out run those lawyers driving Z06s.. My best friend has tried to help, but I need advice for members who have built and are driving modded ITRs.. Any input is welcome.. Thanks for your time and thought

PS. Drive safe and Keep it on the road!

your gonna need alot of HP to outrun a ZO6
why not just buy a cheap, lightweight RS teg shell, and build up a nasty 2.0 liter turbo'd beast?
(if you really want an ITR, buy one, and leave it stock...)

Or if you want to outrun Z06's, well, buy a Z06. For the money you invest in an R ($14-$15K) then all the work on it... might as well have bought a used Z06.

What good is the power if all you get is wheelspin?
There's just a limit to what can be applied to the front wheels... can be more frustrating than fun, IMO.

It is kind of kewl to be able to light the tires up going 60mph though

all I really need is to get it around high 12s, which is enough power for the street, I could use MUCH more, but I can manage with anywhere in the 12s. I am leaning more towards just buying a stock ITR, having fun for a while, then stick a turbo and work a lot with the suspension, even though the ITR is setup well stock.. LOL I think I need to leave one vehicle stock, once I start modding it doesnt stop til the bank account hits a big fat ZERO.. LOL.. got to love it.. Thanks for the advice.. NOW time to get working on a deal with someone for their ITR..

My best advice is to be very patient in your search. I've bought two and the first one was a real pain to find. It took six months to find but was worth the wait. The second one I purchased recently and honestly had no intentions of buying another caR before my wedding in order to save money, but hey you only live once.
Be patient and you'll know when she's the ONE.
As far as "beating" a Z06, well, to each their own. I prefer to use mine for what they are made for, turning. Lastly, I won't tell you to keep it stock, even though that's what I'm doing.
