A6/Y8 technical Q.
I tried to find out about this and looked on D-series.org. I want to know if a Z6 dizzy would work on a Y8 head So i can do OBd-1?
I have a deal going wher i may get a Y8 head.

as far as ive heard:
any dizzy from 92-95 except the z6 will bolt to teh y8 head.
the y8 dizzy itself can be used for obd1.

If you are trying for OBD-1 with a Y8 head then you can use the Y8 dizzy. You can also use the DX, LX... 92~95 distributors, but you can NOT use the Z6 dizzy. The Z6 dizzy on a Y8 head will require the OPPOSITE modifications made to the A6 dizzy when fit to a Z6 head.

Okay, great!
I'll look for a Y8 dizzy. rund 0bd-1 with a P28 ecu. what had to be done on the head to convert down from obd-2 to obd-1? Was it the injectors and risistor boxes or some sensors?

The VTEC plug was different on the Y8 head compared to the Z6 so make sure you have the right plug or just rig it somehow (yuck... don't rig it).
You can run the OBD-0 injectors with the resistor box. You can also remove the resistor box (cut off the green plug and solder all the wires on the harness side together) and convert to OBD-1/2 spec. You will just need the injector plugs that fit the injectors you use (OBD-1 plugs get OBD-1 injectors). You can also run the OBD-2 injectors with the OBD-1 plugs and just clip off a little tab so the plug fits on.

OBD1. OBD2 would be more difficult I think. I haven't seen much support for the ECU's (chipping) and I haven't seen any conversion kits to adapt your OBD0 harness up to OBD2.
OBD1 is basically a jumper harness to adapt your stock OBD0 harness to OBD1, a distributor, and a 4 wire O2 sensor.
