Default Greddy Turbo GSR with out intercooler...

Im thinking about putting the Greddy GSR kit on my 1998 GSR...

The question is: How would the kit be with out the FMIC if kept at low boost and used with the blue box? I just want some more pep around town and some AutoXing...

The thing Im worried about: I go to Atlanta once a month from Charlotte...I would like to know to some extent that the car would be able to make it no problem

You'll blow up!

Have you thought about water injection instead of intercooler?
You need some way to lower the charge temp.

I don't think you will blow up but you won't get as much power than you would if you had an IC.

You can get a cheap intercooler and do some custom piping for pretty cheap, I would at least do that!

Yeah I was affraid of that...

I liked the 4door, mostly stock look though

with the FMIC, my biggest concern is where to get the piping done etc...
search time.

Pretty sure 6 psi and under doesent make alarge difference. You could always convert to alcohol :D. /playing

Detonation kills, you know there will be mild detonation with no intercooler.
Either that, or pull more timing than its worth.

You could always monitor charge air temps and see what it looks like. A J&S would be a good thing here to keep things safe.

True, J&S works.
I seen a stock b18 boostin 12lbs for almost 10 years now. J&S is his only "safegaurd".

I am going with the same setup on my 99 gsr, I reccomend that you make sure you are getting an up to date kit, because they now come with the greddy emanage for the same price. It kills the blue box. Also, It seems like you can keep it at 6psi with no intercooler or bov and be fine. It's the only way to pass emissions and i just plan on taking off bov and intercooler when i need to get inspected. They sell the kit w/o it and say it is fine as long as you keep the turbo at stock boost.

Emissions is not an issue my car is registerd in Boone NC....there are now laws.

I could drive around open header and it would be legal...Rickey's do it in there trucks all the time...I cant make fun of them, Im good friends with a lot of rednecks and they accutually respect the GSR like the handleing..

I think i am goign to play it safe and get the FMIC...too riskey to not get it.

Considering how cheap some intercoolers can be, this shouldn't even be an issue. Even a little $40-50 DSM SMIC is worth it's weight in gold when you're talking about boosting a 10:1 CR engine, especially with summer comming up soon.
