i was in your same shoes back in 96 when i did my first swap . ls into my 91 hb . took 3 months . now i can do it in a matter of hours . keep your chin up and just look around on this site . check out the hybrid section .
You can use your 1.5 bottom end and swap for an 88-91 CRX Si head. I'm not sure if the bottom-ends are the same (compression ratios, difference in displacement, atc.) but, I do know the heads will fit. Really, if I were you I would swap for a D-series VTEC head or swap for a D-series engine w/ VTEC. the Si swap can be do though. All you really do is bolt the Si head on, modify the duel point harness to four point and build in the plugs for the injectors, and hook-up the fuel system and Si ECU and you are almost set aside from probably having to get an Si throttle cable.
oh ok!.........but one more question before i go on my quest>??? how do i find out if its a dx or hf???? pretty stupid questions since im the owner but i really have no i dea? but yeah ima see if i go buy the si engine and see wat happenes when its time to drop it in
! thanks for the help tho!
ps.i'll see if i send u guys pics and keep u posted on this!

Does it have a rear wiper? Does it have a passenger side mirror? Does the front of the engine block say d15b2 or d15b6? Does the intake manifold say Dual Point Fuel Injection? These will help us answer what it is.
it has a rear whiper, and both side view mirrors,im hit u back wit the engine number i havent checked it yet tho,but yeah.,it has those to things anything else that might make it wat ever it is??lol
Well since it has a rear wiper and both mirrors that leads me to believe that it is a DX. Plus you said that it does not say on the title what it is, backs up my decision that it is a DX. There really is no DX model. That's just what we call it to identify it from the other models. If anything it would be called the "standard".
thanks! that really did a difference and now i actually know that it isnt a hf.....well if anything i got till saturday to get the engines(1.5 or 1.6) if i dont get any more info on making the dx an "si" ..........im just going to drop the 1.5.....o well.thanks and please try to give me more knowledge on this engine swap! thanks
here ya go,this should help you complete the d16 swap fairly easy, keep your dx harness and follow the wiring conversion steps and your all good

If you got the motor and the harness and the ECU, you would not have to modify the wiring harness from what I believe. Whatever you do, don't swap for the 1.5, unless you want to have a hard time tuning it.
i currently have a 89 hf and i'm doing a d16a6 si swap. for me its a complete drop in and plug and play since i have MPFI but since your car is a dx, you have DPFI and woud have to convert to MPFI by using a d16a6 intake manifold, PM6 si ecu, resistor box,si\hf distributor and change up some wiring i believe. but since you might do the si swap you'll have most of those items ready. or are you going with the 1.5 D15 swap?
its all good now doesnt matter!! i just got another 88 crx si for $400 bucks mint condition! just needs tranny!!pece im out takin the other tranny out!!!
