Default bad throwout bearing?

When i have the car in neutral and i dont have my foot on the clutch, something in my tranny makes a really lound spinning noise. When i push in the clutch it stops, but as soon as i release it, the noise comes back. A friend of mine thought it might be the throwout bearing? Should i replace it, or go ahead and do the clutch too? Money is a little tight, but if it needs to be done, i can do both, but the clutch feels fine. It's on my eg

1. its most likely your throw out bearing

2. you might as well replace everything since you already have it apart

its probably your input shaft bearing.

someone please correct me if i'm wrong but -

when you put the clutch pedal in (disengage it), and the car is not moving, the input shaft stops turning. with the clutch pedal out (engaged), the input shaft is connected to the motor, and starts turning again.

try getting the car rolling, put it in neutral, and step on the clutch pedal. the noise should still be there because the wheels are moving the tranny, if its the input shaft bearing, or some other bearing in your tranny.

my car is doing the same thing, but it's when the clutch is pushed in, not when it's out. when the clutch is pushed in there is sound like a ball rolling around in a metal circle, it's the strangest thing i've ever heard, i was told when i got the car that the trowout bearing needed to be re-greased but not sure if that is whats going on? would it be smart to go ahead and change out the clutch or just get the throwout bearning re-greased if in fact thats the prob..? any help would be GREAT!! thanks guys

in your case it sounds like a bad throwout bearing. it would be smart to just get a new throwout bearing, and if your clutch is in need of replacement, do that too while you've got it all open.

could be either a bad throwout bearing or input shaft bearing. at first i thought it was the throwout bearing, but i replaced it and the noise was still there. so i narrowed it down to the input shaft bearing.

And when you start easing off of the clutch, if your car sputters and almost feels like it will stall, it could also be your t/o bearing

not to jack the thread or anything but...can these types of noises also happen when the engine is under load...like when you let off the gas to slow down...or even when you pull out during high rpms(3-4500)?
