Default Polishing SS Headers....

I'm getting a hell of a deal on some JUN 4-2-1 headers (straight across trade for my JDM DC 4-1). But the SS JUN Header has a few fingerprints on it. Any way of cleaning it up before installing it. I thought I remembered someone saying something that worked, but I can't be for certain and I definitely don't remember what they used. I know it will turn bluish again. I'm not worried about that. I just want to get the finger prints off. Thanks in advance.

you can try using a dremel with the polishing head on it. Its a soft circular felt type tip, that should work.

Thanks, I'd rather not use any power tools on it. SCARY ::shudder:: . Marc, I'll have to give the WENOL a try. Thanks.

dplatt, i used mothers metal polish on my spoon 4-2-1. i had the ugly blue prints on it also. it took some rubbing, but it shined up like new. before i start the car after working on it, i take a clean rag and some brakeclean and wipe the header off. now it is a nice bronze color.

Use WENOL. It will get rid of all blue marks. The header is going to turn a tan/bronze colour once you heat it up so don't try polishing it to a mirror finish or anything. A quick wipe down with alcohol after installation should get rid of any fingerprints. WENOL works after installation too. I had some pretty baked on marks that I was too lazy to remove earlier and they still came off no problemo.

Thanks guys.....WENOL it is. I'm guessing it's something I can pick up at most any auto parts store.....correct? Thanks again.

There's some stuff called FLIX that absolutely kicks ****.

You might also try something that acts chemically, rather than abrasively (however mild) - like Tarn-X.

Just a thought.

It's a well-know fact that clean, shiny headers make 10-12% more horsepower than ones with surface rust and as much as 20% more than headers with fingerprints.
